The sport’s culture we’ve all created has been win it all or you suck for some time. How many of you angry old men bitching about players skipping thr Cheez-It Citrus Bowl generally consider making the Cheez-It bowl let alone the Texas a “failure” of a season? Many on here dismissed winning the Sugar Bowl and finishing #3.
How many blasted the baseball coach for getting 6 straight Super regionals because he “only” won 1 CWS?
How many have ripped our old basketball coach who made 11 straight NCAAs because he didn’t win one?
If you’re not first your last is the mentality that dominates our sports culture that these kids grew up with. So why should they care about and exhibition game? Let the young players play and the “grownups” relax and enjoy the kids that are playing instead of whining about the ones going pro. They are only here because they don’t have the option to go pro sooner.

Let’s not go down this hole. Christmas is much more important than sports.

Bowl games outside of playoff games are stupid, I don’t care how many downvotes I get I’ll keep saying that because they are. Nobody takes them seriously, you would gain more from getting extra practice reps and your team healthy for the next year

The original poster point is proven. Playoff games came about wayyyyyy after bowl games. The end result was make it to a bowl and now idiots like you think it’s championship or bust

Without a bowl game, you don't get those extra practice reps

One of these threads again, eh? I'm not sure why it seems to be so difficult for some folks to wrap their heads around the concept of not quitting, and putting others before yourself. When people are counting on you, you show up. That's the way it used to be. Whether or not WE go to a bowl game is a completely unrelated argument. WE are not on the team. We support our team in whatever way we can, but the players aren't depending on us to play for them.

When regular people, who work for a living, don't show up because they just don't feel like it, they get fired. And these aren't "kids" anymore. Stop calling them that. These are 18-22, sometimes older, young adults who are now getting paid. It's a culture of selfishness across all sports.

Maybe Seniors want those final snaps, maybe people just enjoy watching the last of CFB around the holidays.
