Collins not fielding his position and backing up the throw from right field is what lost that game.

Obviously 100 things contributed but if he does what he is suppose to do, which is a very simple task, the Merrifield run wouldn’t have mattered because the man on 3rd would’ve been the winning run.

Edit: I’m not standing up for Merrifield, he fricked up royally. Rather, pointing out that Collins had a huge hand in that loss.

Uh, no he wouldn’t have

But we would have had another chance to get the TYING run in from 3rd

How do you figure? Jones bomb ties it, man on 3rd is winning run.
If Collins backs that play up and they don’t go down by 2, but only 1.

Collins wasn’t thinking or that was a lack of instruction you get when you play little league. I don’t know what the frick happened on that play but that was just one of many frickups tonight.

HOW ABOUT THE UMPIRE CALLING THE RUNNER OUT THAT WAS HEADED TO THE DUGOUT? That led to a shite load of confusion. That home plate umpire was PURE shite.

He’s right though. If we hold them to 1 in the 9th, Merrifield doesn’t even leave 2nd base on that ball.

My best guess is the long game - having Dugas going into home for a play at the plate or something is a bad call with his shoulder healing up.

He screwed up.
Move on.
No sense in dwelling on it.

I knew what to do in that situation playing 10 year old Dixie Youth. Let’s not act like it was a difficult decision on what to do. These guys have played countless games in their life.

Or Jones HR is the game winner because that fricking ump let them tie the game by being a dumb fricking count.

My bad. I didn’t read the beginning. Yes you would’ve been right. Still a boneheaded play

What was the third base coach doing? Did you see him?

For like the 50th fricking time, you don’t look at the base coach on a ball in the air.

With that logic or lack thereof you could find 100 things in the game to blame it on.

There was a bunch of things. Let’s start with the pitching coach allowing Collins to throw six CB to a pinch hitter. Should have had some fastballs called in there. Terrible pitch calling. A D1 catcher shouldn’t have let a ball go between his legs. The pitcher not knowing the situation with a runner on third walks almost to the dugout to tag a runner with his back to home plate. Merryfield’s base running error was inexcusable in that situation. Pearson with a terrible at bat in the ninth.

Any argument is not good and these fricking umpires know they have power to make your team miserable.

Do some of you even watch LSU. Do you understand baseball. Let me explain why Dugas was pulled. Dugas represents the winning run and although he has the speed to score. He has an injury and a play or collision at the plate could have hurt him again.

Do you understand now?
