That was really quick and appears to be a home run hire.

Maybe a mutual divorce with Steele given the amount of pressure on Miles? After Miles kept his job most everyone figured something had to give on the coaching staff.

no.

it just means steele and les are tight and les was aware of the developments.

part of what allows les to get great coaches is that they know he is a stepping stone to the next level for them and he will support them. he's places as many coaches as NFL playsers (same level, not as many obviously, you know what i mean relatively speaking) so they come here. and they go. its ok.

Not necessarily. Les just went thru the interview process with DC's last year. Pretty sure he interviewed Aranda then. Might have been just as easy as a phone call to see if Dave still wanted the job.

Glad he got it done. Now to go back and fix the many he has ignored. Penalties, time management, QB recruiting nd development, strategic offense, getting plays called on time. Etc...,

It means Aranda was the first choice last year.

No Steele just got a raise to 1.4 mill

Auburn wanted him. aranda was Miles 1st choice last year though.

I have seen this mentioned multiple times. Just curious, why didn't Aranda take the job last year? What's changed? Anyone know?

Out of the tens of thousands of words written recently about firing Miles, I don't remember seeing any blaming the defense.

Eh, there was certainly some criticism of Steele and his defense. It was one of many problems LSU had this past season.

He obviously wouldn't accept a Joe Alleva 2 year contract with the Les Miles clause in it. That needs to be removed from any contract EVER for assistants. I guarantee you that his deal isn't the same one Steele signed with us.

Next level? Steele made a lateral move.
