Does Lee's QB play scare anyone else?

I am thrilled beyond words that Jarrett Lee was able to step in and get the win, BUT his quarterback play scares the hellout of me. You never know when he will forget what color jersey he's wearing and throw a preventable pick. I thought this before the AU game, and he still scares me. I am a lot more comfortable with Hatch at the helm.

It's a give and take.

With Lee you get the chance for big plays and the chance for big mistakes.

With Hatch you get little chance for big plays and still a chance for mistakes....

even his silent snap (foot stomp) scares me.

the fear is not in his decision making skills, but his inability to scan the field. He stares down his receivers almost every time. That's just due to youth and inexperience, he'll improve vastly over the next few games.

I can only think of one pass last nite where he should have just eaten the ball instead of trying to force it in.

2 words-- redshirt freshman.

Give him time. Relax. We wouldnt have won that game with Hatch as QB. We just wouldnt have. While he was in, we had NO passing game. Lee at least brings the threat of it. As good as Sir Charles is, they would have eventually started stopping him (with no threat of passing game)

true he will make some mistakes, but i saw him do a nice job of going through his progressions and putting the ball in the right place. he still stared them down a bit, but did a better job as the day went on

as for hatch, i dont get it when people say he should still start. he does an ok job on running plays but he literally cannot throw the ball 15 yards down the field. we cant expect to win against good teams with the limitations hatch puts on this team

i hope we roll with lee. he has the ability to take us where we want to be and he showed that int he second half last night

Yeah, I remember one risky throw.

Also, he threw one away. That was hella nice to see.

Also, I may take flack for this... but people have to understand that Lee has tremendous arm strength. So when he makes a "risky" throw into coverage, he has the strength to thread the needle between defenders because of the zip he can put on the ball.

He scares me as well. He also stretches the field. I think he should be given a chance to start so he can get experience. Being able to learn under fire, hopefully the qb situation doesn't turn into auburn situation. Where the qb brought in by the offensive coordinator, is in there no matter what.

I think that is clearly the area where he needs to improve the most.

After rewatching the game, on the winning TD he never stops looking at TT... even when it appears the receiver right behind TT is wide open almost to the endzone, I think it is C Mitchell hard to tell though.

Name one nineteen year old red shirt quarterback who has your confidende starting a game at Auburn? How many points did we score in the two previous games at Auburn? I'm feeling more confident in our quarterbacks even as I type.

Hatch will be and probably should be the starter next game because he is more relaxed and seemingly prepared for the games. But while you say you are scared Lee may throw a TD with a weird pass, keep in mind Hatch can throw a perfect pass and still have it intercepted because of his long wind up, slow release, weak arm, and moderate accuracy. In the long run if Lee can just settle down, he is clearly the option that gives our offense the most upside in terms of balance.

i dont get it. why should hatch start. he cant complete a pass.

lee played great and the confidence was oozing out of him in the second half. he stepped up.

you put the best players on the field. lee lit up auburn at the end of that game and played great. he's the guy

I think that Lee has much more upside than Hatch. It is something you have to deal with anytime you have a young QB.

Right now Lee is a high risk high reward type of quarterback. He will get better as he get playing time and experience.

The game against Miss St is the perfect game for Lee to start. Miss St has a good enough defence to test him and a bad enough team to let us overcome any mistakes he might make.

The announcers said last night that Lee didn't play organized football until his JR YEAR IN HIGH SCHOOL ... this is what makes me nervous. He's basically played 2 years of football. His upside might be tremendous, but he will be prone to mistakes. That said, our running game and defense look like they can more than compensate for those mistakes, if thay happen.
