"I guess I am more old school and feel like you need a good fullback and run the I form."
"LSU agrees with this, but we didn't have a good fullback or Oline last year"
It's been a mystery on why Les Miles continues to employ an OC whose expertise is not the I formation and a power running game. The entire "Alleva would not buy out Crowtons contract" scenario makes more and more sense, especially with the hiring of Billy Gonzales as "Passing Game Coordinator." Looks like BG's apparent "Simplifying the passing offense with less reads for the QB's" this Spring, means we'll see a lot more power running like LM wants and a lot less of Crowton running his "Everything but the kitchen sink" offense....

A regular season of 9-3, a major bowl invite, and a national ranking left you with a bad taste?
No, it was watching the 112th ranked offense that brought my gameday food back up into my mouth

Crowton has always done great with an experienced QB and he will have JJ ready to take charge of the SEC this season put it in the bank!!

I hear you, but the big picture is that result wise both in the SEC and nationally we improved from 08 and hopefully that will continue into 10.

Garrett is not "better than" Jarrett Lee.
If he were, he would be the starter for the purple in the game on Saturday.
Miles said, and its quoted on TD, that he thought Garrett would be the backup this year, but Jarrett Lee is competing and keeping the back up position by his play on the field.
So be it.

Last 2 years we can blame his inconsistency, and lack of good judgement on his age and "still developing" mentality. As a third year starter there will be no excuses anymore. For the people who know what is going on, is garrett ready to take over? Ive had high hopes for the last two years before the season, and ended with a bad taste. So this year Im going in thinking we suck so I wont be as disappointed.
80% of Jefferson's problems were due to having no running game and below average pass protection. You are dreaming if you think that Garrett would have simply overcome that last year.

Back to basics offense with a tough hard nosed front line, RBs that are more about converting third downs than flahy footwork(sans Murphy, we need at least one right?), a Junior QB that Finally has his mind right and ready to be Captain of the ship, and Superhuman WRs that will be amazing in the open field....
Yep, I feel real good about this year's offense

I’m afraid that Jefferson will struggle as long as Crowton remains the offensive coordinator. I mean look at the two quarterbacks he’s coached so for since his arrival. One of them set the NCAA record for most pick 6’s in a single season with seven and the other one struggled miserably for an entire season, and apparently is still struggling.
Not to mention that Crowton’s offenses in 2008 and 2009 also sucked. As a matter of fact, a lot of people credit 2007’s offense to Crowton, but that wasn’t Crowton’s offense. It was Jimbo Fisher’s offense and Matt Flynn was also a 5th year quarterback coached and tutored by Jimbo Fisher.
Thus, I don’t think it matters who starts for LSU, whether it is JJ or JL, I believe whomever it is will inevitably struggle more than necessary because of Crowton’s inability to coach offense. That is unless Miles gets smart and places more offensive responsibility on Billy Gonzales.
However, I believe that LSU’s offense will be significantly stronger this year, simply because it can’t get any worse. That and the offensive line should be bigger, stronger, and better. Thus, with the improvement on defense we should be able to win a few more games this season. Meaning, of course, that we sill probably be stuck with a mediocre head coach and offensive coordinator for a bunch more years.

Ive solved all the QB problems. Sit 'em all on the bench and go to the Wing T or Wish Bone. That Worley Kid can run at FB and just keep feeding them 3 headed monster at RB. RS at QB. Just eat up clock and play D. RS throws about 4 passes per game all for TDS. Guess RR have to play D. Hell of a SS. Whos with me? I think GC might have a massive heart attack.

To all the other posters. Name me one game last season JJ WON the game - was far better than everyone else including the opposing QB. I can remember several for JR, MF, RD, JL even. MM didn't have 2 b/c of our D in '03. UNtil he has "that" game - = passing 2-3 times greater than 20 yds against a solid SEC D, leading his team back to victory on game winning drives. Was so hot that you see smoke coming out of his helmet. LOOKS like he has control of the game in his hands.
I call that confidence and fear. Confidence he knows he is in control and fear on the faces of the opposing D.

Interesting point. You know how good Matt Flynn was when he was 19? Or 20 for that matter? Neither do I, 'cause he was picking splinters out of his arse as the 2nd and 3rd-string QB. I'm no Crowton apologist by any means, but be fricking fair.

Crowton’s inability to coach offense
I mean, holy shite. Crowton's last 4 jobs:
LSU--Offensive Coordinater
Oregon--Offensive Coordinater
Chicago Bears--Offensive Coordinater
BYU--Head Coach
But yeah, he can't coach offense. That's why all these prestiguous universities and NFL teams keep lining up to fill his pockets. His last 2 seasons have been relatively bad, but let's not be fricking retarded.

Crowton also has a history of an offense that gets worse through the course of his tenure too
and he's pretty much hated by all those programs you listed
