Does it really matter at this point? Both of them need to figure it out, because LSU isn't going to out offense great teams this year, so we need both of them to be borderline elite come playoff time.

LSU would have had to pitched a shutout to win tonight...

Don't talk about Lange or any problems that may currently exist with him. Kid had a great season last year. Let's not put expectations on him like we did with Simmons.
At least, that's what I've heard since mentioning this two weeks ago.
I'm officially worried.

Poche would have needed to pitch a shutout in order for us to win.

This would mostly depend on which Lange shows up. Last years Lange could most certainly have been this dominate. This years Lange not so much. A dominate Lange would have given our team a better shot in the least. We will see today which version shows up

With this logic if the Poche that had pitched his other 3 games had showed up LSU would have had the chance to win. Poche had a 0.94 ERA coming into the game. Being an ace isn't always about who has the most talent. It is who is pitching the best at that current time. Before last night it was Poche. People need to stop overreacting about one game. If you really look at it he made exactly 4 mistakes and they hit every one of them for a homerun. Give credit to the other team they took advantage of every mistake. Poche is a grinder and a bulldog he will bounce back from this no doubt.

He certainly seemed reluctant to get into the bullpen last night when it was pretty clear Poche was struggling with control and leaving a lot over the plate.
But I'm more concerned with the pervasive, over a number of seasons, poor hitting philosophy. Up and down the order, over a number of seasons, across a number of highly recruited hitters, the lineups have been very pull happy.
Take Bryce Jordan's AB with two out and bases loaded last night. He's pulling his hip and front shoulder waaaay out basically trying to swing for the fence. Pitcher hammers him outside and he's still trying to pull an outside pitch. Of course, it's a week right side pop up.
This pull-happy approach is so pervasive, it leads me to believe this is how the team is being instructed to hit. It's not like every one of these highly recruited batters just can't hit outside pitching or they wouldn't have been highly recruited.
tldr? Why is Canizaro teaching these kids to try and pull everything rather than hit it where it's pitched?

Agree completely. A pitcher will have nights where he is just off. His stuff doesn't work and he's got to battle. Poche was up in the zone last night and they shelled him.
A quality pitcher will have those nights. Coming in with a very low ERA shows he's a quality pitcher.
Last year we rode Lange,Poche and the bats to Omaha. This year we have those 2 pitchers and Valek. The bats need to come along too.
Timely hitting was absent last night with mostly two out hits.

Typical kneejerk over-reaction from the Rant. Poche didn't have it last night.

You couldn't have done this by accident, could you? Please tell us this was a joke!
