Should it really matter if a team wins their conference now days?

What it we just sit our starters for the game to save them for the games that matter?
The committe would have to give us consideration since we didn’t play our starters right?

Playoff committee is far too subjective. Sometimes the conference championships matter and sometimes they don’t.

Yes the players and the fans want to win SEC championships.

The CFP sometimes uses a conference championship to further validity their selection. For example, Clemson is a team that deserves to be in. Their schedule is a steaming pile of shite. That they are a conference champion will be used to further validate the eye test.

Funny. Based on what I read on the rant, it seems like the vast majority of fans would happily trade the 2011 SEC title for the 2011 national title.

Conference championships are meaningless. Regular season wins are meaningless. Head to head wins are meaningless.
Thanks CFP.

This is all a bunch of gobbedlygook that ultimately means nothing.

The Tigers could always run the RTWFY defensive formation against UGA...

You'll get some downvotes, but you're not wrong.

This system is terrible. Easily worse than the BCS, at least thus far.

What this system has taught me is that a team like Bama could play 11 of the worst teams in the country, but lose their only difficult game (but "look good" doing it), and that's good enough to get them to the dance.

Because "eye test." What a joke.

Can we get in if we win out the regular season and lose to Georgia? Possibly. But why not win out and remove all doubt.

I think it’s a distraction and a waste of time. If Notre Dame was in the top 4 they would have an extra week off. Until every team gets the same treatment it shouldn’t matter. Bama missed the championship twice and still got a chance for the national championship. You should not be penalized for an extra game.

It’s an opportunity for the SEC to get two teams into the playoffs: Alabama and whoever wins it. Don’t expect LSU to get that sort of treatment until we’ve got several recent championships under our belt. I don’t care what the talking heads are feeding you. We lose that game we’re not playoff bound.

When bowl games mattered, then the conf championships mattered. Now though, they are a waste and some might say, unsafe....

For those saying that they do matter, I say let them matter so much that they determine who makes it to the playoffs. Choose 8 conferences and play a
Conf championship. The winners rank 1-8 and the loser ranks 9-16 and go to a playoff. The bowls can serve as locations for the playoff games. No loss of money.

We get a real champion every year.

Yes/no. Sux if a team like Notre Dame has a good season and gets to watch their competition beat each other up one more time while they heal and study films. . . . But it's also a chance for underdogs to move up. SOS should mean a LOT MORE so teams don't sneak around in shadows with a good record by playing cupcakes and then pop out with maybe 1 quality win. They say the best teams are in the playoffs, really? Prove it on the field DURING regular season.

This needs to be the narrative that is pushed this year. This system is beginning to devalue the regular season and I don't think that's good for CFB.

Absolutely should matter, but doesn't. Bama won the NC in 2011 and 2013 without winning the SECCG. Personally, I think it's asinine that someone could win the NC and not even be the best team in their conference, sometimes not even qualifying to play in the conference CG.
