Does CBS get the first option for the LSU-Texas game since it’s in BR?

If so that would suck because they would definitely keep it at a 2:30 start

LSU is an SEC team. That means CBS gets first dibs because it’s a home game. The new ESPN/ABC deal with the SEC doesn’t kick in for another 4 years.

Does CBS usually show SEC games in week 2? I can’t remember any off the top of my head.

They do now. They used to air the US Open which delayed the season debut of SEC on CBS but they don't carry the open anymore.

I think they have before. It’s up in the air what time we will play that game. I’d prefer the night game for us. Texas had a night game and we should have one. The lore of playing big night games in Tiger Stadium is the passion of the players, fan base and national audience. It would be unfortunate if network money robbed us of our complete home field advantage. It’s truly amazing the rights we signed away.

Doesn't ESPN have the option of "buying out" CBS more or less for a game?

Lots of UV rays means little virus. I’ll take the 2:30 start.

I'm still amazed at the folks who don't know how the tv contracts work. CBS gets first dibs on SEC games. If they want the LSU/UT game...they will get it. Whether or not it's a 2:30 or 7:00 game is their choice, if they decide to make our game their ONE prime time game, then it will be at night....otherwise prepare to sweat your balls off.

last season CBS started their season on the third Saturday with Bama vs South Carolina - not sure why since they don't do the US Open anymore

The year before CBS aired West Virginia at Tennessee in week one on Sept. 1st. My guess as to why they didn’t show their first game last year til week 3 was because there were a few big games in week 1 & 2 that ABC/ESPN had the broadcast rights to. Don’t think they wanted to start their season off with UGA/Vandy or Ole Miss/Arkansas.

We want a 2:30 pm matchup or noon. We are paying them back for the no AC in the opposing team locker room last season. Their locker room is going to be scorching hot for them at Death Valley this season.
