2006 Grand Theft Auburn, so no.

I think Saban wins that year if he stays at LSU. I know this is hard to wrap minds around but the game is totally different with a different coach. It doesn’t play out the exact. However even if we lose that I don’t think he then also loses at Florida.

Right cause the program was totally the same. I don’t know where this notion that 5 years in automatically means everything thing was in place and once he won, he should have never stepped back. The program was still being built, he didn’t have the depth yet. The 03 and 04 classes brought that. it was ready to really take off in 2005, In part i suspect it comes from his sustained run at Alabama but what idiots forget is he lost 3 the Year after his first title at Bama too. It takes 4-5 full classes to get the full program up and running. 2005 is probably tough but Saban wins 06 and 07 at LSU

Beyond that is hard to pinpoint. I don’t think people realize the effect Katrina had on recruiting for LSU for the 06 and 07 classes. So 08 and 09 Even Saban loses a couple here. But given Miles had the talent to win 2011 and 12 and probably would have if not for Saban, I think Saban gets at least 2-3 more after 2007

Probably: ‘06 ‘07 ‘09 (RP probably doesn’t get kicked off the team) ‘11 ‘12

Potentially: 05’ - Saban wouldn’t have worn the team down that year as much as miles did and we probably beat UGA.

probably 4 titles from 2003-2011.
our administration is no where near all in as bama's is. they dont tell saban no. ever.

saban hadnt even offered him. one of the main reason i dont like saban. he left us 1 month before NSD after he had all but stopped recruiting. so much so that we signed 13 players that year.

RP didn’t commit until after Saban left who knows if we signed him but maybe not.

We weren’t going ahead of USC-UT and we were worn down from playing 11 games without a bye

I don't think you can recreate what Bama has. Sure, talent would be no issue here, but I don't see him having as much control.

Tuscaloosa is still pretty isolated and a college town.

If you consider one title, a handful of bowl victories, and several bowl defeats to 5 national championships a gradual progression, then that argument holds water. However, his record astronomically improved, and the clear difference is the resources.

ETA: lest we forget a failed NFL run.

He was building a program. The guy was magic. He took over a historically second tier program and won a natty in year three. Hell yeah, he’d have 8 nattys by now.

A couple problems with this statement about recruiting. 1 iirc we were tight on numbers and would have hat small class anyway. But the bigger issue recruiting was way different then. Teams didn’t have practically full classes line up before the season started like they have in the last 8-10 years. I’d bet most teams didn’t have more than 10-15 commits at that point either. Mack Brown really started that and it was a couple years later like 07 08 maybe I

No.

It is a perfect storm. Right coach at the right time with the right administration. Nothing more and nothing less.

Bama was desperate after Shula. Savanna was done with pro football. Bama has a will to win administration.

Pretty close if not all. And LSU would be the SEC Network's flagship product instead of bama.

At least 5 or 6. He would have built the same machine here that he has built there

Don’t know if he wanted to stay at LSU. LSUs administration is not all in like Alabama’s is from the board to President and AD down. If he had stayed at LSU I think it is realistic to say he would have 3 to 5 titles here as well.

Not all of them. His LSU teams always racked up a lot of penalties, and we wouldn't have been allowed to tackle any rusher threatening to sack the QB or have other phantom game changing penalties gifted to us in close games.
