Chavis said in an off-season interview that he can't leave the box because then Stud would eat all of the Zebra Cakes and not leave him any.

No. I never understood why most d coordinators stand on the field. How do you see what's going on and how the defense is covering the offense?

I like that both coordinators are in the booth.

No. He is smart enough to know where he can be most effective from. The D is young and he will get them up to speed.

He is not as elite as you make him out to be.
He got fired from TN for doing what hes is now doing at LSU.

However, he should on the field or up top as he chooses.
The problems we are having, are not fixable at game day....too late by then.

I think he should sit in a bosun's chair so we could hoist him up and down from the box to the sidelines all game long

I completely agree with that but as yelling and getting up in a players face may have worked many years ago,it won't on today's players..they're spoiled and entitled,or think they are (most of 'em anyways. Now getting in the face of a few assistants may work, namely the DB coach...I will agree that the D stepped it up in the 2nd half...but that 1st half was a disaster, missed tackles, missed assignments, you name it...you not gonna make me believe they are that damn bad, there's a reason they made the team.On the other side of the coin I can't say enough good about the offense...OBJ had a fantastic game! The difference from last year to this year is night and day. I think if Mett can stay at the pace he's on,he should be in the Heisman bidding at the end of the season. Wish our break was sooner than it is we could use some heal up time and some extra time to work on defense.

The offense was definitely the reason why Fulmer, an offensive guy, was let go. The new coach didn't keep him on because that rarely ever happens when someone is hired. You gotta bring it harder than that if you want to try to take out one hell of a defensive coach on the rant.

Fulmer was fired, and no one on his staff was retained.

Chavis got offered to go back in 2010, but turned it down.

look up John Chavis Football and read.

..he would do this against FL and lose
..he got humiliated in a game w/ So. Carolina and that was the final nail.

I think he is a good coach, just not the guru that some people want to make him out to be.

He has ample knowledge, but there is something in his personality that makes him go into this PASSIVE mode, or zone coverage.. call it what you will .....when playing teams with speed, it will hurt you.

too passive...teams with speed will gain a full step and velocity on you...by the time his D reacts, they are 4-6 yrds down field.

I agree that this is what our D looks like, but do you think he's changed what he's asking our guys to do? Or are they just not doing it as well as the previous players?

At first I actually agreed with the original post then I read this post and I agree with this more. Chavis knows a hell of a lot more about football than any of us do. So let him coach however he feels he needs to coach.
