No, he was asking too much for an appearance fee.

Noticed Dr. Cannon's absence, also. Surely, he would have been there, if invited. Is he blackballed, due to his prior problems? College Hall of Fame has relented. What about Heisman folks?

Gen Dawkins rec'd special recognition, due to 50th anniversary of his selection. Next year is 50th anniversary of Cannon winning. Suppose, they would just omit that portion.

IMO, the Heisman is a lot of hype. Football is a team game. The Heisman trophy is an individual award. You can't compare linemen with quarterbacks.

I know Dr. Cannon well and my uncle is probably his best friend in the world, so take this for what you want, but you can take it to the bank because it's the truth.

All heisman winners are invited, and he still gets a vote (NEVER lost the right for that matter) and if he cared at all about it, he would go.

Dr. Cannon is not like most people, he could care less about fame and being popular. I've sat in his press box seats at LSU games with my aunt (watched Cecil Collins run for 234 and lose by 3 to auburn from there)'cause he just don't want to go. he was been pardoned for his past crimes and his record is as clean as a baby's. He works at Louisiana State Penitentiary (Angola) as an orthodontist, because he wants to. he could have a practice in baton rouge and people would line up around the corner to get him to put braces on their kids. he raises race horses (nonnac farms) and enjoys not hearing stupid people talk about his past. (you can't start a thread on here without some "fan" saying "he can't leave the state") remember this is the most famous player in lsu history who sent his son to play football at texas a&m. Billy Jr. was a first round pick by the Dallas Cowboys.

Uncle Billy is just different, he is the anti spot light guy. don't take shots at him because he is different, he's still the greatest tiger ever!! LSU has forgave him, when can his "fans"??

The majority of fans have forgiven him. There will always be people to take shots but he received a nice ovation the last 2 times he has been introduced at Tiger Stadium.

the student section waving $20 bills at him in his first post conviction visit makes me sick to even think about

I don't see why it should. He committed a crime, thats just a result of what he did. Now I would never do such a childish thing, but I am not going to feel sorry for him or be critical of the kids that did this. I am thrilled that he straightened himself up and is now serving the state in such a classy way. I disagree thou on one thing. No doubt he is a great Tiger but he isn't the greatest. That title belongs to Tommy Casanova.
