What if the problem is Les himself
Maybe he is getting more involved with play call on both sides of the ball
I think he will give the defensive coord full control.
Now I wish Crowton has full control on offense but he does not

1. There is zero evidence that Les is involved in making the defensive calls.
2. IF you think the defensive issues are encompassed in large part to the individual defensive calls during the game, it just shows your ignorance of football in general.

The defensive back play this year has been as poor as I have ever seen. Linebackers have not done much better. Mallory coaches DBs and Peveto coaches LBs. Yes, they should be replaced as DC and position coaches.

i've heard people saying, "you don't have to fire them, just demote them to their previous position", and I couldn't disagree more.. I think you've got to send them packing...
the DBs and the LBs have under-achieved... they look confused and seem to be in bad position alot.. thats coaching...

i wonder if florida fans after winning the national championship then struggling on defense the next year and losing 4 games did this?
No. They realized that college football is uber competitive and you have to build. They enjoyed their '06 title and looked forward to the day their young talent would benefit from the experience of the 2007 season. They also did not rag on their head coach and try to sully his reputation because they got a little disappointed. They didn't bad mouth their program on public websites for all of the recruits to see.

Well said, and I would only like to add that the behavior of said "puss-fans" makes it much harder to be a displaced Tiger than whatever the team or coaches do!
Radio around here is brutal when it comes to Coach Miles, but they REALLY love it when LSU fans act like a bunch of dweebs calling for the head of a NC winning coach less than 10 months after the trophy gets to BR. If you are ready to put Les Miles on the midnight train out of BR, then I truly believe you are a worse fan than any Gump ever born! AND THAT IS WAYYYYYY BAD!!

You're on the right track--the bowl game should be the final game for Mallory and Peveto here. I have always believed the "Peter Principle" applied to coaches. Some coaches are great coordinators, but failures as head coaches & likewise, some are very good position coaches but are lousy coordinators. This applies to both Peveto & Mallory--they will surface elsewhere! As one fan said, "LSU is not the place for on-the-job training!" Get a real DC!

Dude... there is at least one daily " I never liked Miles and said from the beginning that he was a bum" thread on here. Closely followed by the obligatory, "WE should have never gone to/ won the NC last year, because Miles is a loon" follow up...
And my favorite of this week:
"Would you make an even trade with Mich. for R Rod. today"? which was overwhelmingly answered "YES!!"

So is TeigerTim not a "dude" , or do you just think I am too old to be "dudeing" people?

A program of LSU's caliber--one year removed from a national championship--should be able to hire a top notch DC. Les must be careful & not repeat the mistakes of DiNardo, who made terrible choices with his coordinators--esp. Tepper. I still support Les & believe he will make a solid DC hire!

Okay, I will try to keep the "dudeing" to a minimum. You have to remember that I spend 17-18 hours a day, seven days a week, with my 12 and 14 year girls! They are wearing me down!

quote:This is true, but there was that Scott McKay blog entry about the Troy game where the defensive backs had an emotional conference on the sidelines with Peveto and Les. After that, the D backs began playing differently. We should consider the possibility that these guys were hired to run the defense like Les wants it run, and Peveto wasn't going to change what was being done without Mile's approval. Maybe the reason he doesn't criticize the defense is because they are doing what he wants.
