I don't follow recruiting as much but I still follow the team closely as well as go to games when I can. It's less exciting but I wouldn't say my gameday habits have changed much.

I don’t give 2 shits about commitments anymore, but I like the team during the fall.

Hopefully one day there will be a salary cap of some kind and also getting some sort of rules with the transfer portal. They need to bring back the old rules to where they have to sit out a year.

Sitting out a year is the biggest one for me.

Salary cap is a must because the can of worms has already been opened, but I wish it was still college sports. It’s minor league ball now, but we still call it LSU anyway.

YES, this is me right here.

The thrill is gone. The thrill has gone away baby.

The thrill is gone mainly due to the defective and dysfunctional LSU Athletic Department policies that have totally destroyed the ATMOSHERE IN TIGER STADIUM!

It's so bad (For Strong Traditionalist Semjase) that we just picked up and got the frick out of Louisiana all together and we're enjoying a much higher quality of life overall here in Florida. I/We can always get a flight from Orlando to NOLA at any time for a big game that I just have to see in person..........

I don't know about most, but I know of many, myself included, that has not and will not watch the NFL anymore. To each his own.

That’s not true. NFL is more popular than ever before.

Quit following altogether? No.

As interested/rabid as I was before all this BS? No.

I hate the recruiting talk because just like last year the kid will flip and bail as soon as a more lucrative offer comes along. not faulting the kid that is life changing money but it changes how much I care about the game. this reminds me too much of pro ball and free agency but without the rules or contracts

Sums it up pretty good. I also think the older I get, the less I care about sports in general.

Used to make it a point to make it to at least two home games a year. After Alabama last year and traffic, will probably be a while before I go back. Going to focus on hitting road venues I haven't been to yet

You were "donating" through TAF, ticket sales, buying LSU branded goods (for which LSU receives a licensing fee), etc to make coaches multi-millionaires and to help pay for lavish facilities. Those 18, 19, 20 year olds are the ones performing on the field...which is the reason you watch the game. It's the reason the networks pay hundreds of millions of dollars a year for the rights to broadcast that game to you.

If an 18 year old is a brilliant singer, artist, actor, scientist, musician, hell, even a baseball player, no one bats an eye that the free market allows them to generate millions of dollars in earnings. Yet, there is a problem with a talented football (or basketball) player doing so within an industry/business so popular that it generates over one-hundred million dollars in revenue annually?

The biggest decades long farce is that major college football (and basketball) was/is simply just "amateur" sports. There aren't many amateur sports where TV networks will paly hundreds of millions of dollars to broadcast the games, or the business will generate millions in revenue just to put on a single game.

HS baseball is an amateur sport. D-3 football is an amateur sport. SEC football isn't...and it hasn't been for a LONG time.

Good Question OP.

Haven't seen or followed NFL game since the Saints v Ram NFL fix. I'm sure they don't miss me. I have watched a few minutes of Joe or Daniels, but not whole game.

Re LSU, don't follow recruiting at all. The year starts when team shows up in August. I do agree with the comments above - I don't blame the kids. If you want to fix the current NIL & Portal thing, read Shakespeare's Henry VI...

Re the team, too old to go to the games anymore. Usually watch on TV. No longer twist & turn in bed when they lose.

Final comment: Many years ago I heard a guy boo a play. Another guy said that these are amateur kids playing for the love of the game & the general rule in Tiger Stadium was not to boo our Tigers...now, can we boo the $2 million dollar semi-pro QB who throws an interception or transfer wide out following the $$$ who drops a TD pass?

Haven’t quit following, but I’m curious about the future relationship of sports to the schools. I wonder if the NFLPA, et al will unionize the players and if there will be strikes in the future. At some point players may want a bigger slice of the pie and individual players may get greedy over signing bonuses, etc.

Ten years ago I could quote you the LSU two-deep roster without a problem. Today I could probably name five guys on the entire roster. I've got a Tiger room full of memorabilia that I don't know what I'm going to do with, but will probably end up in a garage sale at some point.
I'll be adding the 2025 baseball championship poster to the wall soon, and to be honest, I follow baseball more now than football.
The money grab by both players and coaches has made college football and other sports lose its luster for me. I'll still watch, but I no longer schedule my week around LSU sports.

Here to sign the petition that traditional recruiting is over from a fan perspective. “Commitments” now mean “this is who you are bidding against”. Yes, has always been the case and highly ranked baseball players have “used” LSU to drive up MLB signing bonuses forever.

I am ok with portaling players “back home” like Anderson after a year or two but it kind of depresses me that a kid might stick with a program, do all the right things for 2-3 years, just to have CBK portal in a new player and make them a starter. Yes, I like Burrow and Daniels as players and people, but we better appreciate Nuss for what he represents as that model is going away I’m afraid. When they just bring in the best free agent senior QB year after year from here on out I will tune out completely.
