How would it have knocked us out? Every other team has one loss. We'd be right in the middle of the picture. Ask Va Tech if they wouldn't rather have had UO on their schedule right now.

Yeah, the whole why play Oregon if you loss you are out of the national title running is stupid.
If we had lost to Oregon won the rest we would be in the exact same place we are now.

The only thing good about Towson is that there will be a TON of tickets avail all over the stadium and I may take my 5 year old to her first game. I usually just take by 8 year old. But being it will be half full, I may just take her too.

regardless, we need to be playing at least two OOC games against teams from BCS conferences...

Yep. We need at least two decent FBS OOC opponent (one home, one away) every year. They don't always have to be worldbeater teams, but they should be decent (a worldbeater here and there should be desired, though). If whoever is in charge of scheduling cannot figure that out, they should be fired.

You won't convince me that playing Oregon instead of Akron made LSU a better team.Never. That's a myth.

You underestimate the power of sports psychology.

Because they were able to destroy Oregon, this years team bought into its identity really quickly. From there on out, they knew what their strengths were, and made an effor to mold themselves around that identity/strength.

Completely different than going through the motions with a scrub team and knowing you'll out-talent them in the end.

But you're entitled to your opinion.

why would we change it when its obvious we dont need it

Because it's more entertaining to play quality opponents.

And that's what I'm paying for, entertainment.

For some of us it's not ALL about the last game of the season.

Could not agree with this more. And like you, I won't deny perception is part of it. And there is absolutely ZERO need (yeah, I know, $$$...but it used to be 7 home games were "needed") to have 8 home games. Should be 7-5 or 7-4-1 every year. Allows a home and home or neutral site with a good OOC team. I've thought the last two years' schedules were absolutely perfect.

Yeah, that's a good matchup. We need another decent one if we're still playing only 8 SEC games that year, though.

Hell, I think Washington is a decent matchup for 2012, but we need to add another good to decent team to go along with it and I really think we should always play at least one road OOC game (personally, I'd like to see the NCAA mandate it, so everyone is on the same playing field and people can't raise this stupid revenue excuse).

Bottom line is, there's really no excuse or valid reason for playing 3 complete garbage games in a season. 2 should be enough.
