Do We Need a Taller WR to Step Up Along with Beckham/Landry or Not?

Will we be able to have a strong passing game with all smaller guys? Or, is it a must that Wright step up and be productive. I have confidence in Mett, but I am a little concerned about our WR without that big, go-to receiver that we have had in the past. Who fills those shoes?

There are only 2 candidates. Wright and A. Williams. It is not a requirement. I think many people feel that we need a taller receiver because we have been lucky enough to always have one tall above average receiver. Clayton, then Bowe, then Lafell, then Randle. Before those guys, most of our top receivers were under 6'1".

nb4 Blue should switch to receiver.

Wright, who i don't think of as a big target even though he sort of is.
And Dural.
Honestly I don't think it matters.

Would be nice to have a big target WR but a TE may be able to suffice in the redzone.

We were one of the best redzone teams in the entire country last year and it wasn't due to having a big body receiver.

ppl put too much stock in WR height sometimes. Early was just as good at going up as snagging passes as Bowe and Buster, and he was a few inches shorter.
and there's this guy ...
(on the way down btw)

Our main tall WR didn't use his size very often, so it may not matter. Guys like OBJ used whatever size they had more.

Armand Williams is like 6'4 but I don't know if he'll see much time

Truth.
Last 3 Bilitnikoff Award winners were all 6'1" or under. Golden Tate was like 5'10".
The best returning receiver in the NCAA (Woods) is 6'1".

Key word is top. Toliver didn't exactly set the world on fire.

i don't see what all the fuss is about.. this isn't NCAA 2012 people.. you don't need a 6'5 or 6'6 receiver to throw a jump ball to in the end zone.. other routes will be utilized and the wideouts LSU has will be used towards their strengths... i think that needing a tall receiver is over-rated

Considering Mett's natural ball flight is downward, having shorter WRs isn't really a bad thing.

I agree, the receivers we do have will be able to get separation and catch the football. Those attributes come into play on every pass compared to the few jump balls that height helps you with.
