Look I don't disagree, and yes I don't think 1B is the toughest position on the field, but Morgan certainly saved us some runs last year by being at first. I would like to see him in center field, but we may have more of a need for him at first.

No it's not, but Morgan made some big plays at first that may have made a difference in the outcome of some games. He might do the same in CF for all I know, but I think the gap between him and the next best 1B is bigger than him and the next best CF, if that makes sense.

Not when you factor in the bat you can get into the lineup if you put him in CF

What bat would you put at 1b in that scenario?

We shouldn't need a 1B to make game saving plays. Throwing to 1B is a basic fundamental.

It's really about the whole. Tre in CF gives you the opportunity to move Berry to 1B, which gives you a better 3B option (Doughty, Merrifield, Jobert) and could open up another 2B option (Dugas) or LF option (Pearson). Just spitballing scenarios, though. I don't think we'll just run Tre out to CF and run with it. Going to be alot of shuffling.

ETA: Plenty of other names that I didn't mention but same idea.

I agree that we shouldn't, but it doesn't mean that we won't. Throwing to first was something we struggled a bit with last season, hoping that's not the case this year.

I’m in the camp that Doughty needs to be playing 3B

So you could eventually have Berry settle there

Beloso was the 2nd guy they used all fall.

Brant Smith was the 3rd, and he’s gone.

Jobert saw the 4th most reps.

-Beloso (who I think is underrated fielder, just has to hit)

-Jobert

- Leto playing there this weekend was interesting. Could just be a rehab move.

- perhaps one of the backup catchers?McManus ? Priester?

Merrifield ?? Seems versatile enough to do anything

There are so many options at every position that affect the next that it gives me headaches and I've purposefully stayed out of the conversations.

I've thought about the Leto at first base thing a bit. I was very surprised by it. I think he played him there this weekend to get some reps. If he sticks there the next few weekends, he's really considering him as an option there. I think we'll see less of him in weekends to come. Berry, Beloso, Jobert, Merrifield, Dugas, Bianco, etc should be ahead of Leto if Morgan goes to CF.

Not that I think Leto will get much playing time..especially coming off an injury..but the kid is a stud.

I thought he would redshirt. But him getting reps now tells me maybe he is that good, they need to get him at bats now so he can indeed play somewhere

Guys like him, Pearson, and Stevenson will be counted on next season. I hope there is enough opportunity to get them ABs this year so they don't come into next season as essentially freshmen all over again.

Ya..as good as I think he can/will be..we have too many studs in front of him that haven’t been injured. But it’s a great sign to see him getting some reps.

I assumed Leto was one that Jay talked to about red shirting. Given he was out a good bit of the fall, he has to be behind. But, since he has that much potential, maybe Jay threw him out there to see what he could do in a short period.

He went 1-6 with a double, a stolen base, and an rbi. He walked once and kicked one.

My guess is he gets 1 or 2 games this coming weekend and that's a wrap.

That most of the guys knew what the plan was. He only had 1 spot to make a decision on.
