Guys; if they are practicing rebounds, somebody has to be throwing the ball at the bucket.

100% true. And coaches don’t have enough time to work on stuff like this in the season. It’s common that players shoot and do layups to warmup, and complete practice with free throws with whatever time is remaining. If a college coach is legitimately having the team practice free throws and layups in the mid conference season, they are not appropriately preparing them for their next opponent.
