I sat with WM at dinner in May at Trulucks in Houston and he is a sharp dude. He should be fine, ala Bo P. as a head corch (Fla. Rep Corrine Brown )

Muschamp gives a good interview. He's going to have 2-3 "TV" moments a game where he's coming unglued on some kid and the announcers and fans get all excited and rave about how intense he is and how he's "coaching em up!".

Is he top HC material? Who knows, but he's media friendly enough to get the benefit of the doubt before he even starts.

i called that a mistake the minute texas announced it. the thing is, they didn't HAVE TO DO IT to get muschamp as their DC. they also made him the highest paid DC in the country (until monte kiffin trumped them). so why lock yourself up with a guy that has never been a head coach? yes, he was an up and comer; yes he was worhty of a shot at DC at texas, but nothing more. now, i think he's a good DC, what's happening this year i don't feel familiar enough to comment on, but to gamble on him with a 5 yr HC contract is damn risky. i think some people fall in love with hype factors and really don't know what it takes to be a successful head coach.

and reasonable heads prevail. texas has a lousy group of seniors attitude and leadership wise. they'll be much better next year. if i was mack, i'd sit some of those guys.

He would be a good head coach and I'm pretty sure that UT is #7 in the country in total defense.

YES! Would take Will way before Leach or anyone else mentioned on this thread. Apparently many of you have forgotten the completely dominant bone crushing defenses Muschamp put together year after year at LSU and with far less talent than we have now. He did the same at Auburn and will do the same at Texas. WM is a serious badass, Mack Brown is the problem at UT, just like Wade Phillips was the coaching problem at the Cowboys.

So all of these people are going to not judge WM off of what he has done for the past decade, but rather on one season.... seems totally feasible to me.

No we want Mack Brown or Urban Meyer. They can obviously out coach and out recruit Les Miles.

Hyperbole much? He was our DC for 3 seasons. And while I love our D this year, no way 2002-2004 had FAR LESS talent than we have now. Hell, the entire starting DLine from the 2003 NC game was drafted by the 5th round.

I know

As if every coach in history has never had a bad season.

Muschamp is a brilliant coach and a fricking remarkable recruiter. He'll be a big time coach for a long, long time in college football.

No, they don't at all.

They see Texas sucking and just presume it must be because Muschamp is terrible.

WM is a good fit for Texas. He's got the contract to prevent him from taking an SEC HC job.
