Frankly I don't give a flying frick what the fans think as long as the players, coaches, and the AD think otherwise.

I see no difference in Ark fans thinking LSU is their rival and LSU fans thinking Bama is its rival. We don't think Ark is our rival and Bama doesn't think of us as their rival.
I think there is a huge difference. LSU and Bama have actually played each other in a NCG in the last five years. We may not be bigger to Gumps than Auburn, but we are a close second or third to them. The Bammers I know go nuts during LSU week like we do--they sell beat LSU shirts, buttons, etc. I go to church with a lady who moved here from Bama, and she hates LSU with a passion. She starts trash talking in August...even refuses to wear purple. For the other Bammers I know, the hate is almost mutual. It's no Iron Bowl, but a close second or third.

true that. and i think the majority of folks who spew this just happen to be lsu fans who just happen to be trying to come up with excuses to down play their loss and our victory.

I think this is true amoung Bama fans that live in LA as it would be for UGA fans living in Florida, Tennessee fans in Alabama, etc, but as a lifelong Bama resident it does not apply in Alabama. Bama' biggest games are AU and UT. Always have been. I can tell you 2 weeks ago there was very little talk of the LSU game. Most was Auburn. Has been since September. We had a get together one night in Sept to watch some games and drink and we tried to devise a gameplan to stop the AU offense. Lots of fun but no LSU isn't at all a close second here. State, Ole Miss, Arky and LSU all rate the same pretty much with everybody I know and A&M catching up maybe one day with those. That A&M game came on faster than I thought with Bama fans.

LSU is always their a Super Bowl. The games at War Memorial were a trap since. LSU never gave any respect to a team playing in a high school stadium so hence we sometimes lost there. They can't stand Les Miles but then offered him 17 mil to coach there after Patrino debacle??
He once referred to them as AR-Kansas and they still talk about that on Radio to this day,

I wouldn't know that, I live in Oklahoma. And the few Bama fans I know HATE LSU.

I think A&M is 3rd. We didn't play for a long time, but the rivalry never missed a beat

On my way to the game, I passed a drunk student-aged guy that yelled something along the lines of "LSU sucks!!! Go home!!" immediately followed by girls behind him that said "Oh my God! We're so sorry. Don't judge us all by that guy."
I was probably more offended by the girls almost insinuating I couldn't handle a little harmless smack talk

You're not that special. Maybe we don't like you, I don't know but we want to go to bowls and we want to compete. In no way would we be happy just bc we beat LSU.
Kige. The only team I truly hate is Texas. I have a lot of LSU friends that moved up here after Katrina that I obviously mess with after they lose but that's just me being a drunken arse.
As for our *rivals*
1) Texas (Should be universal from razorback fans)
------
2) LSU just for the talking shite point of view.
3) Who ever we are playing.

This is an interesting location for you to state your argument about how much you don't care about LSU.

I can understand you thinking that but if you took a glimpse at my history I'm pretty sure I never posted on this board before last weekend. Altho, I do check it for comedy (melts) like everyone else.

I'm just angry and bitter. Watching our attempt at offense against y'all was the most tortuous sports related sight I've ever witnessed. It wouldn't be so bad if we haven't seen this coming all year with no attempt to change, and getting fed BS week in and week out about how it's all because of execution.

I'm on the fence. If (not really "if") he stays I want to see an SEC championship within the next 2 years. However, we will not be in the NC next year with Jennings at QB. He has been here too long to believe he can all of a sudden make the improvement necessary to lead a successful or even semi-competent offense. There is only a sliver of hope that lies with Brandon Harris. But our coaches practically tell us there is in fact none at all when they constantly shove "Jennings is our best chance for victory" down our throats. How sad is it that Saturday "was our best chance of victory" against y'all? Because it appeared to be no chance at all. Les is a top 5 coach using salary as the metric, and he has dug us in a hole with the QB position for 5 or 6 years with no end in sight to the current hole we are in. It is the most important position on the field and we constantly look like we treat the position like an afterthought.

I would say that their is an intesnse rivalry that exists between LSU/Auburn/Bama, where all 3 teams know that in order for them to reach their goals, they absolutely have to beat those two other teams.
Bama might not have been in play in the mid 2000's as much as Auburn and LSU were, but pretty much every year dating back to 2000 has been either LSU, Auburn or Alabama, with Arkansas sneaking in twice b/c of a ban in 2002 from alabama, and luckily getting in over LSU and Auburn in 2006 b/c of easier east opponents.
LSU, Bama, and Auburn all realize the importance of playing each other, as well as their permanent east opponent. You can say the games against LSU are not true rivalries, but they are all intense games every year that everyone looks forward to. A loss to one of these teams is much bigger than a loss to Florida or Georgia or Tennessee and everyone from those 3 schools recognizes that.
No one from LSU looks forward to the Arkansas game.
They are a small step above Mississippi State/Kentucky/Vandy/Missouri if even that.
Ole Piss/Bama/Auburn/Florida/Tenn/A&M/Georgia will always be bigger games than them.
If you think Bama doesn't consider us a rivalry, go back and look at how they celebrate after beating Tennessee, and then go look at how they celebrate beating LSU the last 4 times. Nick Saban doesn't smile often, but when he beats LSU, he looks like he just won the national championship for a couple of seconds.

Bama, Ole Miss, Florida, Auburn, Aggies...they all have bigger rivals than LSU, so they can't be our biggest rival because we are not their biggest
Currently, aTm has no bigger rival in the SEC than LSU. Same goes for Ark. I do feel that LSU fans would rather beat 'Bama, OM,UF and AU than these other two but they do have bigger rivals from the perspective of their respective fan bases. I will say that I have a lot of kin and friends in Alabama and they all feel like LSU is 3rd on both those lists, behind each other, UT and UGA. I think LSU is kind of like the Notre Dame of the SEC. Really aren't any teams out there that don't love to beat the Tigers.

1. Bama 2. Ole Miss 3. Florida 4. Auburn 5. TexAgs 6. Arky
Here's how they should be ranked:
1. Alabama (not mutual No. 1 rival, but Bama takes it seriously)
2. Auburn (usually big game for them, too)
3. Florida (usually big game for them, too)
4. Ole Miss (not mutual, more on their side, than ours)
5. Texas A&M (could argue should be ranked higher than OM on this scale)
6-11. Rest of schools in SEC not named Arkansas or Missouri
12. Tulane
13. Arkansas
I'm slightly exaggerating with 6-11. But we don't get fired up for Arkansas any year, sort of like we usually don't get up for Ole Miss (except this year because of the ranking). That's why the games are almost always tight, even though LSU is almost always favored, and usually is the more talented team by far. And it's why Arkansas wins a decent amount against us.
