Difference between this year and last year

We are so much better this year than last, and i would like to see what some of you think.
1) Qb play is vastly improved. Two long textbook, picture perfect throws to Randle by two different qb. I really had no faith in Jefferson as a consistent passer, but he does seem better. I am beginning to think that Lee has more talent than we imgined. He manages a game well, but he also plays very well to me.
2) The game plans seem suited to our talent, and i know we have beaucoup talent. We do appear to call plays that either work or set up a bigger play later. We had a few pitchouts to the shallow side of the field, and then we had Auburn in position of over running the play only to have Randle and JJ connect for a score.
3) Our defensive schemes seem to play to our strengths of speed and aggressiveness. Very solid defensive line play, and the alternation of players substitutes a quality player. It's not someone is number one and the other guy is second string. It's more like someone is 1 and the other guy is 1A. LB and DB play is certainly the beneficiary of this.
4) Special teams play is a true plus, and it sets up either great defensive stands or offensive time consuming drives. I have to say that our punting is extraordinary. I thought a weakness was our kickoff portion, but each week that improves.
5) The hitting and locking people up has improved from the WV game, and we look as though we stay with a bend don't break philosophy. Tennessee was an aberration in locking up receivers, but it was an example of never letting anybody in the endzone on a regular basis.
6) I am guessing that Kragthorpe and Studrawa are working together very well. It does seem that Crowton may have been a bigger minus than we thought. Both qbs get the ball and make deicison faster; however, that could be the result of a less complicated game plan. Weigh in on this becasue I never played. It just seems that way to me.
7) Near the end of the game yesterday, I began to feel sorry for the Auburn return guys. That was certainly agression on our part, but it looked liked their blocking was half-hearted becasue they knew we had their souls.

Lee has seriously gone from one of the most disliked to praised players I've ever seen. It's amazing how well he is playing for us. This is the difference in the game at Tuscaloosa IMO. The experience is paying off this year and getting a new QB coach/OC has done wonders. It couldn't have happened to a better player considering he stuck it out and endured through so much.

tl;dr, but the correct answer is Gary Crowton.

Your a Meauxron and everyone who thinks it was Crowton's fault. Everyone knows we are going to run run run up the middle and they still can't stop us. That shows it is all about execution. How many times were we sacked last year compared to this year. The qb's are better because they're more mature as well as the o line. You people are the same ones that wanted to run Miles out of town before the Bama game last year. Enough said.

quote:Why do people keep saying this? He's thrown ten passes. Can we really draw any meaningful conclusion about his passing ability relative to past years based on that?

Our 3 QBs have have accounted for 18 tds, one int, and a passing rating of 163.
Last season at this time our QBs had accounted for 12 tds, had 11 ints, and a passing rating of bout 106.
Our 18 take aways to 3 give aways is just awesome and boy do I hope that continues!

Offensive confidence = playing to win, unlike last year where they played to hang on to games.

No Crowton
This and turnovers. We commit less of them, we create more of them

Solid quarterback play would be my #1 reason. The rank of the offense comparing last year to this year is my supporting evidence.

The Bammers up here still think Lee is the same one that threw all of those pick sixes 3 years ago and we still have the same dismal offense we had the last two years. They are banking on this and that is the reason most of them think they will win.

Better playcalls on Offense is the difference.

No Julio Jones is a plus for LSU...

this, I knew lee had it in him years ago, he was simply thrown into the fire too soon, he got through the tough times and has EARNED the right to start...its his team, he's battle tested and has come through...he sealed three victorys last year and has been great this year....the past two years offenses were abysmal...we finally got a quarterback that will get it to our playermakers...I still dont believe that JJ is a playmaker, and that he steals carries away from one of our 30 playmakers..I think he could be a good TE...but I like Clement and Peterson...Im glad JJ is back on the team, he should learn to be a team player and it gives Defenses something to prepare for...Although I believe opposing DC's like seeing him in there but thats a different argument....But I am glad that he is back and in the role he is in...I think its working..
keeping our defense off the field has been the difference, the last two years they have been gassed by our offense not being able to sustain drives....
I think this will be the slowest two weeks of my life...I cannot wait.
