LSU didn't have an incredible mulligan in 2007? Thanks to Pitt we were able to play in title game with 2 losses.

No - we didn't play anyone in a rematch in '07. IMO, you're confusing scheduling sequence with overall body of work. Our overall body of work in '07 justified us being in the BCSCG.

ETA: And the case is easily made that Bama's in '11 did not.

I get upset at Miles but I really do like him as a person. I always feel bad when I'm overly critical of the guy.

I feel the same way. But being a great guy doesn't win championships.

Almost every BCSCG is disputed. On the other hand, no one disputes the SECCG. Since '07:

Saban 2 SEC's ('09, '12)
Miles 2 SEC's ('07, '11)

This isn't to equate their merits (SEC vs BCS), but only to point out that there isn't this broad gulf between Bama and us.

Yeah, Bama's easier schedule doesn't excuse this pitiful loss tonite.

I will never forget the story in SI about BAMA having a lightning delay for a game. Saban had the team managers and coaches prepared for what to do in the locker room for a lightning delay

That is a huge difference between them and us

They prepare for everything, we don't seem to react to anything

I don't think you're too crazy. Bc its crazy to think of the scheduling favor Bama got last two years, or how holding is never called, or the mulligan (that Michigan didn't get in 2006 in the same situation), or how Bama's NFL prospects never seem to leave early other than RBs. No other program has come close to this success in the BCS era, not even Saban at LSU. It's just a bit extreme.

The why hasn't it shown up in our games vs them?

I really think LSU plays up for Bama. Bama has a target and LSU plays with a chip. But look at all the rest of their games, how Bama rolls through everyone else. And LSU...doesn't.

Man, you've got blinders on if you don't think there is a gap between Bama and LSU. I was hoping that LSU might have closed that gap this year, but I'm afraid it's gotten wider.

And looking back, people thought LSU was fricking insane to get rid of Cholly Mac for basically the same type of teams.

Cholly Mac had talent, but nowhere near what Miles' teams have had, yet he was fired for his inability to beat the Bear, now it is starting to look like the same thing for Miles. The BCS Championship game from 2 seasons ago & last year's loss loom big- another loss this year will really be tough to handle. Can we ever beat Bama again? After tonight's game, even the true believers have to be in serious doubt. I just hope we don't lose 4 games this season.

Cholly Mac plateaued way below where LSU should have been
That is why he was fired not merely because he couldn't beat the bear

There was more to it than just that

Last couple, it has. Debacle in the dome, and the last one where they showed why they are a step above us by going on a final drive with little time left to win the game.

Since their return to relevancy they've won 4 of the last 6.

In those 6 games, the most points scored by the winning team was 24 pts. I think that will be shattered this year.

And until this defense took the field, we could always credit Les for stockpiling that talent. Anyone here older than 30 remembers preSaban, and we know LSU doesn't win or recruit without the right leader.
