knew it was coming.... What is truly sad is that the rant has turned into a social gathering in which posters like you offer the quoted text above yet no insight on the team or opinion. If you read my post, nowhere did I embellish the importance of the SEC tournament. Watching the team I have noticed that LSU has been struggling to string together hits (not just in the game today vs stanek.) Maybe that is because they are too aggressive or not patient enough at the plate. Im not a pessimistic fan and I believe this team has what it takes to make a deep run in the tourney. Sorry if my post offended you oh great Lurker of prominence s_i5

Don't understand this statement at all! We played to win that game for anybody who can't see, we threw our ace and had all of our starters in the game minus JJ. Why didn't everybody just go up to the plate and take every pitch and strikeout if they just didn't care. That's the dumbest shite i've heard. PM wants to win we just got beat!

He wants to win, but we arent gonna lay it all on the line to win. Otherwise cotton wouldve pitched, nola wouldve thrown the 8th, and edward wouldnt have pinch hit

This thread is made after every loss. Apparently this teams has hit it's peak quite a few times this year.

I hate to see how some of these guys would've reacted in 97 when Bama cleaned our clock in the season finale series like 25-2. Oh by the way... We went on to win it all that year. It's baseball.

Nola was well over 100 pitches by the 8th no need to keep him out there when our bullpen has been solid most of the yr. We were down 3 it really wouldnt have mattered who batted in the 9th we couldn't score anyway but to say nobody cared b/c the tourney doesn't mean shite is ridiculous we just got beat hands down!

He had thrown 108 pitches through 7. I beileve his season high is 112 in a complete game. I don't really think we were throwing in the towel by brining in Bourgeois and Rumbelow in a tie game in the 8th.

Of course not, but if this were Omaha or a super, Nola would have came back out for the 8th.

Did we want to win? sure. Did we do everything we could to win? nope.

Yeah, I just don't necessarily agree with that. Again, he had thrown 108 pitches in the game. His fastball was starting to lose a little bit of velocity and he wasn't commanding it as well near the end of the game.

Other than maybe attempting to steal a base or two what could we have done different to win? You have to hit the ball to make things happen.

It definitely was the right decision to pull him. I agree though, if this were an NCAA tournament game, he probably would have been allowed to at least start the 8th.

This. I don't think LSU played to lose at all. I was disappointed with the defense in the 9th, not holding the runner closer to 2nd and Ross made a couple uncharacteristic plays behind the plate. But all that being true, you are not going to win many games only scoring 1 run.

This 100%.

LSu lost a lot of wind after the successful go ahead squeeze in the 8th.

Start Nola in the 8th for one. Not give up every base in the top of the 9th. And actually play Jacoby.

I'm sure everyone wanted to win this game, but it really wasn't that important.

He was commanding it okay IMO. In a postseason must win game, he's going back out there for the 8th inning. I'm sure of it.

Why start Nola in the 8th when our bullpen has been more the capable the entire yr and they are fresh. Nola was losing command and velocity! Jacoby would have single handedly won the game for us your right. They were already up 1 when we started giving up all the extra bases anyway, still would have lost! None of your points would have won the game for us! Before the 8-9th innings what could we have done? When you can't score you can't win. We lost b/c we got beat not b/c we didn't care that's all i'm saying!

We used 2 of our top relievers in a spot where our SP was clearly starting to wear a little bit.

1. This didn't have any effect on the outcome of the game.
2. We were talking about decisions that could have been handled differently. A pitcher not paying a baserunner any attention and a catcher not catching the baseball isn't a faulty decision that could have been handled differently.

Because he is your best pitcher. I promise you he would be out there in any other meaningful post-season game.

Did I ever say that if we do all those things that we would have won the game? No, I said we obviously didn't do everything we would have done if this was Omaha or a super.

That doesn't mean we win the game if we do things different, it just means this game and entire tournament isn't that important to us and our chances down the road.
