You may not, but lots of LSU fans, whether right or not, will always compare him and Miles. Saban has a much better track record in his career as a college coach. That doesn't take anything away from Miles, but it's always going to be a comparison that is made by some people.

The point is there will always be detractors for a coach, no matter what.

I hope Les just ignores them and keeps on winning, but if he doesn't win the SEC West in the next 2 years, his seat should be burning. Unfortunately his contract likely won't allow LSU any options against him if that should come to pass.

I believe Les will win the West this year or next, so to me it's a moot points.

Beating Bama and UF went a long way in restoring some faith IMO

Better track record? Did you figure in "Sabes" 6-5 & 6-6 seasons & at Michigan State? He's never Won 11 games or more 4 times as a college corch.

Before this generation, LSU fans had enough sense to pull for the coach that actually coached their team.

Is the end around with Peterson a "trick play"? I think it's a great play with even better timing.

The Saban lovers are like the fat nerd that falls in love with the pretty girl in the class. She might have flirted with them a little in the lunch line, but when it came down to it, she didn't really want to be with them. She was only waiting until someone else came along.

First off, I stated the last 6 seasons, and if you're going to try and use his time at MSU as anything, he took over a program on probation there and got them to 10-2. Are we going to look at Les' 3-8 record at OSU? No, because they are irrelevant when discussing recent history.

People love to hang their hat on 11 wins, but 1 title in all that time.

Anyways, I am no Saban lover. I like Miles, and glad he's our coach. I am just pointing out that Saban has more SEC and SEC West titles in his past 6 seasons than Les.

The point is when Les wins another SEC West title, more people will turn. Then when he wins another SEC title more people will be on his side. Then if he wins another NC, I'd venture to say 99% of fans will love him.

It didn't convert my wife..
Despite the fact that he is 2-2 against the football god that is Saban..

I think being last in the SEC in total offense but still managing to go 11-2 is as good a testament to his coaching ability than there could be.. If you are still a skeptic then you're a douche.. and yes.. my wife is a douche..

You asshats like to talk about what a fricking sawmill the SEC is, then don't seem to accept that when teams are this closely matched....shite gets close. So almost all the games have one or two pivotal plays.

How bout PP non interception the year before...forgot that Lil gem of Saban good fortune.

Of course you did.

I for one like our coach, our team, our school, and am looking forward to this season. And I fully expect we are gonna play a shite ton of close, nasty arse football. That is what SEC teams do.

The man has been gone 6 yrs and LSU hasn't missed a beat since he kicked us to the curb, but some just can't let it go.

It's like the jilted lover syndrome from some, I guess.

I'm just glad I'm not so wrapped up in thinking bout what I had 6 yrs ago that I allow myself to become blinded to the unequaled success staring me in the face.

I think Les is a fine coach. But did it convert me to the bandwagon of saying he's a great coach?

One win doesn't make a coach great. Just ask Gerry Dinardo circa 1997. Les's body of work is his ultimate accomplishment. While I can't complain with the end result, I do have some reservations about whether our team met its potential in all of those years. 6 years ago, most of us would've said 1 SEC CHAMP was less than we'd expect over the next five or 6 years. I think he's on par with realistic expectations.

I still think Les is not a top tier coach but is a top tier recruiter. And great players make up for Les than great coaching
