What a silly thread.

The hiring of Orgeron as head coach, is what killed the fanbase. The loss of hope.

This is BS. O is honest to a fault.
Tweak the offense/major rebuild,
hire the best coordinators and let them coach.

Agreed, but Cam and Les waited too long. Had they swapped Etling for Harris in the preseason they probably beat Wisky

They way I remember it, Etling had suffered some kind of back injury right before the season started. As a matter of fact, ATLTiger said Etling had back issues and might not have even been eligible for that game in his post on page 5. Which by the way, was a response to your post on page 2.

And I'll take it a step further. If Miles had started Etling over Harris for the Wisconsin game, and we still lost that game, there would have hundred of fans screaming for Miles head for starting a QB who hadn't played a down of football in a live game for damn near two full seasons over a QB who was in his third year in the system and had started every game during the 2015 season.

Miles was in a no win situation in my opinion.

And with Etling more settled in they probably beat Auburn.

Perhaps. But Etling did have damn near 2 full games of action before the Auburn game.

All of this, and more, probably would have happened if Miles had fired Cam and replaced him with a better OC.

Perhaps that would have been the thing to do. But Miles was obviously too stubborn to do that, and here we are almost 3 years later and we are in the exact same situation with o and Ensminger.

Did the 2016 loss at Lambeau Field kill the LSU fanbase?
That's the last game LSU fans travelled to well.
Yeah, that finished us off.

Everything was fragile after the 2011 BCS disaster, but we still clung to the 4 year plan (2003, 2007, 2011, etc). Not winning (it all) in 2015 was REAL bad, but the idea was that it just got postponed a season, to 2016, when we had everyone returning and theoretically improved.
Expectations/demands were a run to the championship game AT THE VERY LEAST. Instead, we finally had our first OOC loss.
Yes, looking back it sounds spoiled... as O supporters say, a 3 loss season ain't terrible. And we were bound to eventually lose an OOC game; Wisconsin, for all the fuss, WAS a Big 10 team playing in their home state, lots of pride on the line, and turned out to be a damn good team.

But that's the straw that did it. Maybe we needed change, and to realize things might not be so bad.

This is my favorite.

For Miles, it’s “just fire the OC and we immediately win it all!!!”

For O, it’s “guys we have a first year OC, of course there will be growing pains. Just need a season or two to get it all figured out”

That game showed how LAZY les miles and can Cameron got. They did nothing in the off season. I was there in lambeau and enjoyed it immensely. The only problem was les miles laziness. I went from a huge les miles fan to a so so fan to almost hating the man today. Laziness pees me off. At least I saw the cubs in their World Series winning season.

That did Les in because it was obvious he no intention of modernizing the offense. He was great when he arrived at LSU but arrogance and stubbornness eventually required his departure

I think a lot of people died inside when they realized miles was going to run the same offense.

Yeah a lot of people here still like to kiss Miles’ arse but he basically took his dick out and slapped LSU fans in the face with it with that nonsense.

No, 1/9/12 did that frankly.

Etling only got inserted in the Jacksonville State game because LSU fans were loudly (and justifiably) booing the offense. Miles and his staff shouldn't get any credit for that long overdue change.

The whole thing came apart in November 2015, frankly. You could tell Les was done, in that Ole Miss game especially. He looked totally lost and withdrawn on the sideline.

I think the OP has his finger pretty close to the pulse.

Wr used to put up billboards (we don't travel; we take over). Do we still do that?

during that game, the reporter asked him about the passing game. Les said the passing game was fine even though Brandon Harris was 3-14 for 37 yards.

Oh, come on, man. Receivers dropped like five of his passes that were right on target.

I think many already had "Les Fatigue" before 2016 but the last glimmer of hope was lost at Lambeau.

That's where he lost me for good. Sad. Les did so much so well as a HC. Just 'died' with his philosophy.

No, it just proved that Miles was full of shite. I was calling every single play from my barstool at Phil’s oyster bar. I can’t imagine what the guys that are paid millions were figuring out

I would have trouble coaching middle schoolers

I'm glad I sold me tickets and did not go. Lambeau can wait another time without Les in charge.
