In your opinion, did RB have a bad SR season, or were his lack of statistics not because he was bad?

Just curious of people's opinions... He just seemed to be quiet and often a non-factor, but I wonder how much of that was due to the DLine being so much more noticeable this year.

Not "bad" per se, but definitely below expectations.

I thought he had a nice year. He didn't have to do a whole heck of a lot since the D-line went beast mode all year. He definitely picked up the slack for the rest of the LB corp though (for Minter he didn't have to pick up as much for).

Agree completely. What got me thinking about him was looking at OLB draft prospects and I remembered after last year them saying he was a 4th-5h round guy, but CBS had him in the FA pool this year. Sucks...

Yeah, I was glad to see him step up as the season progressed. He should be the real deal the next two years.

The guy was the best linebacker on the 2nd best defense in the country. He had a good year, even if the personal stats don't show it.

Seemed to have a fine season to me. The LB corp just didn't get many opportunities this season. D-line seemed to make most of the stops in the run game...not many RBs made it to the second level against our D. And in coverage, we were playing 4 and 5 DBs alot. Coming in as the perceived weak link of the D, I'd say the LBs did all they were asked to do and then some. I can't recall many coverage breakdowns by the LBs, aside from those horrible TE roll out passes that Bama kept hitting in the NCG. Makes me a little sick to think about that.

As active as our safeties and corners were in run support this year, Baker should have been, too. JMO.

Its hard to replace K-Shep. I think for that reason, I believe expectations were a little high.

You can't blitz everyone on every play. Solid play by the linebackers is what allows the DBs to attack freely of the edge.

I thought he had a pretty good year. He did have a habit of "overrunning" the QB on blitzes though.

yup. I was hyping dude big time before the season, because I didn't think ppl realized just how productive he was last yr (check the tackles and sacks... in 12 games... sick).

figured with Shep gone and his experience compared to the other LBs, he'd at least get the tackle numbers again, if not the sacks. it's ok though, still did well. we'll miss him next yr.

Also I think

not only played well but has the potential to be a real playmaker going forward.

I was disappointed. He was consistently burned in the BCS Game by Smelley and Richardson.
