“Night games” at LSU was so dominant since the early 1900’s due to the fall agricultural harvest and the heat along with popularity within the state. It allowed everyone to either attend or listen via radio.
Old timers in other states as far way as AR, MO, WV, etc.. could pick up 870 am out of NO at night and on Saturday night LSU football would be on the air.
It was very unique at the time.
