everybody wants to be right.
There is too much "fandom" on here when it comes to certian players. I dont think anyone that posts on this subject believes JJ is terrible, its just that some(myslef included) just dont thin khe's all some of you make him out to be.
Guy has a long ways to go and thats just a fact some of you need to face up to.

"Certian players," are our QBs, right?

Besides head coaches, QBs are the only players that have their team's won-loss record attached to them forever. Also, it's the most important position in the sport, so it makes sense that their performances will draw much more scrutiny than most of the other players.

Put away your broad-brushing for a just a second, please. I agree that JJ has to improve. He knows that, and so does the coaching staff. If he didn't have "a long ways to go," (your words), then he wouldn't have the "upside" that he has, IMHO. (If he'd already reached his ceiling, it would be pointless for him to keep working to improve.)

I guess he did, wasn't expecting much from a true soph QB. Expected the run game to carry the team, which didn't happen either.
I'll be happy if he can become more consistent. Think he has the ability, will hopefully develop more pocket awareness by next season.
I do think that when at the end of the year when he had to get something going he did, which will benefit him in the future.

Very well said. The guy is 9-4 as a starter (1-1 last season, with a bowl-game win) w/another bowl game on tap.

Here are my thoughts on this.
Ask yourself a couple questions.

Gotta love another canned-hunt...

Do you really feel that there are no other meaningful questions to be asked? Just yours (and your kid's) right?
Please.

I can assure you I know as much about football as anyone on this board.
However since you seem to know alot about football tell me where all this improvement is.

Well, somebody loves himself.
Arrogance, hubris, pride and a pinch of sarcasm don't make you The Expert on tackle-football.

The sad fact (for you, anyway) is that you don't even know more about football than at least half of the people on this thread.

were his stats decent? sure, they werent bad at all

he didnt get much help from the OL or coaching staff, but he usually just made the situation worse

im no more or less encouraged with our QB situation than i was this time last year

with the lack of an o-line that could neither effectively run block nor pass block, and with play calling that made you scream WTF, if was hard to place the blame on JJ. we were lucky that we didn't lose the miss st game, as well as the ga game, and that says more about the lack of consisient coaching , rather than JJ taking sacks to cause us lose the games. it is fairly obvious to me he is not receiving ,or cannot comprehend, coaching allowing him to read defenses and make plays accordingly. if the coaches working with jj for our next years schedule don't do any better than this miserable year and a half of training he has received since the bowl game last year, i look for just about the same results as this year. if you were pleased w/this year, you'll undoubtedly love next year.

NO !

He had a great Bowl game in Jan 2009..I did not see him perform any better during any game this season.
..so NO, he did not exceed the expectations, actually a little short.

Next year will be the year to either "fish or cut bait" with JJ
..there should be no more excuses for either JJ or the coaching staff

The one good thing about JJ is his short comings on the field can be corrected with coaching and experience. I still think he will be a good one if he finally gets IT.

I've been pretty satisfied with JJ. His shortcomings are mostly because of poor coaching.

To win a national chanpionship, Les better find a QB cause JJ won't ever be a big time QB. He casued most of the sacks he took.

No

After his performance in the bowl game, I expected more confidence, and better decisions from him.

With a good offensive coordinator i think JJ can be one of the all time greats at LSU. Lets hope we get one.

Yeah JJ went 10-2,Les 9-3, but JJ handled, the torture of a 2.5 sec pass rush like a Man.I was disappointed he wasn't perfect at times, ran out the pocket instead of up in it about 4 times all year. But I figure after having 310lbs and 250 lb rockets jump in his chest constantly, he deservrd to run away from the chest pain sometimes.A lot of the complainers would be joining the cheerleaders, if they were in his shoes.
