Miles said that JJ called for the snap but was not heard... I don't believe this because I was actually watching the game. JJ was looking around waiting people to get set and the game clock to expire.

Les said he did probably based on what JJ told him. However, we all know he claps to start the play

Miles said he called for the snap but mishandled because he was also trying to eye the clock. Don't look like it to me... but then who am I?

Then you saw him clap his hands one or two counts before the snap came, didn't you? That's calling for the ball, by the way.

LSU QB's did that the whole game. My impression is the clap is that Peyton Manning-type thing to get the defense to move so the QB can hopefully see something in the D. The ball was usually snapped several ticks after the clap. Watch the QB's, they would clap, then look around the defense, then get the snap on another signal.

Jefferson probably lied to Miles to try to cover up his own screw ups.

I believe T Bobs story and the tape. I did not see a QB calling desperately for the ball.

I saw a deer in the headlights not sure what the hell to do.

His intent was fine and the flag saved us, but hiking the ball as the clock went under 4 secs to a QB not expecting it serves no good purpose.

Glad you weren't at center or we would have lost the game.
JJ was looking to the sidelines to figure out what in the hell to do and was not calling for the ball. There was no play called.

This is what happened JJ looks to see if everyone is set then claps then looks at the clock then the ball was snapped. the clap i would think means he is calling for the ball cause of the noise level. If you are not ready for the ball why would you clap. if you can't handle the pressure go sit on the side and give someone else a chance to make a play.. We are now in the heart of the sec schedule this game will determine if we can handle a rank team and i cant wait this will be a true test for our tigers !!!

It only got loud when the crowd realized that we had no clue what was going on. The clock hit 10 seconds and we were leisurely setting up in formation.
It was beyond belief. Total Total incompetence.

WATCH the rest of the game folks. The clap does not mean snap the ball.

Then how does the qb call for the ball in the shotgun, certainly not a verbal request....is it?

I am not trying to be a jerk to you so please dont read that into what I am saying.
Generally I would agree with you that a downlineman shouldnt be making that decision, but the fact that T bob saved us, or at least gave us the oppurtunity to be saved shows how messed up JJ, Les, Crowton et al are, They are the stars in the Dumbass Miracle, a new drama that had its surprise premiere in Baton Rouge last Saturday.
Oh wait its a tradgedy not a drama.

Actually there is - though it shouldn't be. Both QBs did this the entire game depending on the formation / man in motion. Clap hands - look to the side (more toward the motion man than the defense) 2-3 seconds later verbally call for the ball. Watch the games again, and you can hear them calling for the ball. There was just so much confusion on the last play (coaches/crowd noise) that no one could hear. TBob couldn't hear if JJ called for the ball or not ( I personally don't think that he verbally called for it - no one could hear - it was too loud). TBob just snapped the ball hoping JJ was ready for it, but he wasn't. I honestly believe that JJ would have let the clock run out before calling for the ball - not on purpose, but too much confusion because there was no play called! No one knew what to do. Peterson runs open in the endzone just hoping - Randle never even moves from his outside receiver position. Ridley didn't know where to line up - he just guessed Comedy of errors.

Even more frustrating / embarrassing to me is the fact that there was confusion on the next play. Either the ball was snapped too soon, or some of the people didn't know the play. The LB was in the backfield and should have made the play. The FB was still in his stance when JJ received the snap. Ridley won that game on his own.
