Which one - they got beat by Miami (OH) and Miami (FL) in the rain.

Drenched! Was one of the final few thousand that stayed. College flags were bent over at one point.

I did.

That was the worst.

Steve Walsh could've read a book in the pocket that night.....I swear- That guy was standing flat-footed picking his receivers against virtually no pass rush- all night long.

And remember- we were co-SEC Champions that year. LOL

EDIT: yeah- I was there for Miami-Ohio-Ho-Ho, also. That sucked, as well. And again- we were SEC Champs- outright- that year.

Not in the first half....the book would have gotten soaked and become unreadable

Same here. I was soaked to the core. Oh to be young, stupid, and immune to pneumonia again!

I remember that game. It was me, my dad and my sister. We were just little kids, but I remember it was raining so hard it felt like you were getting slapped on the back (at least that's how I remember it). I can't imagine sitting through that kind of weather now, and if you would have told us then how great we would be later no one would've believed it.

I was there with a friend and it got to be bit fun when tht squal came through the area. I can remember two things with out doubt. The student section at least cheered louder when the rain got to be bad assed, the other was one of the SEC team banners pole being ripped off the stadium and landing in the bowl. I left early as I was freeing my arse off due to evaporative cooling.

I did. And I remember sitting in an almost abandoned student section in the 4th thinking, "We need a touchdown, squared."

That was f*cking AWFUL.

I was there in the covered "Purple Section". The cover didn't help at all - rain came in and soaked us completely.

Yes, it rained so hard that at one point I thought I might drown in TS. It was so bad that I remember thinking how insane it was to still be there but couldn't leave because of it. If that makes any sense.

Besides the rain what I remember was the thunder, and it sounded like it came from only 50 ft or so above the upper deck, like it was below the level of the flyovers. And there was lightening. They didn't delay games then for lightening--wooden ships and iron men. I was hunkered under an army poncho. Never have I seen a team beaten so badly as we were that night.

How hard did it rain? A female friend who was a cheerleader at that game said they were so wet their nipples showed right through their tops, but it was okay because only the guy students on the first row could see.

Yeah, I was there and the only good thing about the whole night was that I and a friend was there pulling for the Tigers and our seats were under the overhang from the upper deck at that time and felt very little rain except from the blowing wind.

I was a student at the time and got soaked. Also remember that was a team that won an SEC title. The SEC was much different then. Think of how many gigantic games we've been involved in since 2001 compared to how many before.

I also sat through LSU almost beating a top ranked Florida State team. Leaving the stadium, the fans were cheering and there was a great deal of excitement about LSU football. Perspective is an amazing thing.
