FWIW, we would've lost anyways.
....is it possible he made an error in judgement regarding "inconclusive" evidence?
actually, that is what I want to ask him. If he admits he may have made a mistake, then I can go from there. BUT, knowing Dick, I doubt he admits that. I argued til I was blue in the face that he made a bad call against UF in 1989, but he wouldn't budge.

NFL refs>>>>>>>>>SEC(WWE)refs
NFL refs actually use replay to get the call right...not to defend the call on the field. In the few instances that they mess up, there is a public apology and explanation(pittsburgh/SD last yr)
I really hope this whole thing eventually blows up in the SEC's face, especially since they are trying to shut everyone up that speaks out about the issue.

I don't think General Burleson made a bad call, as it wasn't his call to make. I believe Gerald made a bad call. I don't believe the conspiracy bs, but even good officials (and good men)make mistakes. Gerald Hodges is both, and everything I know about the good General says he is to, although I don't know him personally.

ok if you do talk to him about it (and I doubt that will happen since it is being deep-sixed by the SEC) how about asking him EXACTLY what he saw to CONFIRM the call on the field. Also ask him if it isn't a perceived conflict of interest by others for him to be involved in the Bama games -- and at a minimum be an awfully poor image for the SEC when controversial calls result ???
Posted on 11/12/09 at 3:05 pm to Ray Ray Rodman
all it took was a pair of eyes to make that call. It took almost no interpretation or rules. the sec should be ashamed of itself. the fact that the office is in the state of alabama can not be ignored.
i nearly threw my sons firetruck i was sooo pissed off but a cool head pevailed.

guys, what is lost in translation is that this was Gerald's call, not Dick's.
I will ask what I can get away with, but he may stonewall me........we'll see.

Didn't Dandy Don used to be an official? Everybody says he is of the highest character. He should be an official for the next LSU/Bama game.

That may make you as hindered a judge of Burleson, as he was of Bama.
It certainly seems to be affecting your logic in this thread.
Not trying to be mean, just honest with you.
For example, your statement
quote:Was a response to this:
Dick is a GT alum and huge fan all the way. He is not a Bama alum; therefore, your assertions using an LSU alum not officiating an LSU contest is flawed.
quote:It is pretty clear this guy has a conflict of interest with Bama, The Auburn folks are all over this. You seem to think he had conflicts of interest elsewhere too?
I actually know a former SEC official. He did not graduate from LSU but lives close to Baton Rouge and is of insanely high character as well. He was never allowed to call any LSU games or any that would directly influence LSU's season. So, I cannot understand why this guy is allowed to work this game . . . high character or not.
Perhaps with Florida?
Because this is not the first horrible call controversy he's been involved with in 2009 either!

Dan Mullen blasts replay official in Gators game
ESPN's replays showed the ball coming free before the goal line.
Asked about the call on his weekly teleconference, Mullen said he has seen "over and over" replays that show the ball out of Doe's hand before he crossed the goal line.
"I don't know why we even have replay right now in the Southeastern Conference if they are not going to utilize it," Mullen said. "That's twice that they've blown calls on the replay with our games resulting in big plays and I think that's unexcusable for that official. I mean, I hope he is severely punished, if (he) ever works another SEC game again, because I think it is completely unacceptable."
Dan Dembinski was listed as the replay official in Saturday's game. Dick Burleson was listed as the replay booth communicator. On the field, Penn Wagers led the crew.
SEC spokesman Charles Bloom said Sunday the league wouldn't immediately comment.

Since when does a boss in the same room not have influence?

NC, I passed over the long post and misread.
Look, I am not disputing the obvious turd in the punch bowl. I just am waiting to see how it got there......
I do like the guy, but recognize the "if it walks like a duck" syndrome.

But thats just what they want. Everyone to move along and forget about it until next time it happens. I am over this shite. If I ever ran into that piece of shite, I would rather go to jail for assault then not knock him the frick out.
