Theoretically, on Fridays when Skenes pitches, could he stay in the batting order and could a DH be used for Milazzo?

Season hasn't even started yet and we're already getting asinine "galaxy brain move" threads.

Even if that was okay you'd have to bat your relievers, lol.

Yes, because we definitely want to massively increase the risk that Skenes gets hurt to marginally increase the utility of 2 plate appearances a week.

I sometimes wonder you people function in everyday life being as stupid as you are.

You are thinking too much into it. They have shown throughout the spring that they aren't going to have Skenes hit. Now I suppose that could change later in the year, but I don't see him hitting on nights that he is starting.

You can only DH for the pitcher.

The starting pitcher can bat for himself then become the DH when he is done or a DH can become the pitcher but once he is done pitching he cannot go back to DHing. This is how we got the wonderful Todd Peterson at bat.

With that said, I don’t think we will see Skenes hit as much as people think. Not only do you just have a ton of good bats in the bench his future is on the mound. They are really focusing on him being the ace of the staff. You can tell by the few at bats he has gotten during the pre season practices.

I don't think we're going to see him hit at all, unless we get a crazy amount of injuries that forces us to play Austin Bain at 1B.

I take that back Project and Broski. This is a dumb question.

Milazzos defense is worth whatever hypothetical number y’all think he will hit

Travenski sucks at catching and Neal is good but isn’t ready for SEC

Idk…he’s produced against our SEC pitching.

Milazzo is a very good defensive catcher but at this point I think the rant has severely overblown how good it is. No college catcher is good enough defensively to be able to bat .200 and be an automatic everyday starter.

How does it massively increase the risk he gets hurt?

If Milazzo bats, are we massively increasing the risk that he gets hurt?

Massively may be an exaggeration but it does increase the risk. Takes a fastball off the hands, fouls a ball off his leg, running the bases he slides wrong and gets hurt. This are all things you are bringing into play when he bats.

He is more valuable to this team as a pitcher.

Early on coach Johnson said they would not use Skenes as DH when he pitched. Maybe not at all.

Maybe OP is very intelligent and successful at his career, just doesn’t know baseball that well and was asking a simple question. Doesn’t mean he can’t function in everyday life.

The MLB has the Ohtani rule where he can bat for himself and remain DH when he is relieved, I’m not sure if this is the case in college. This is different from OP’s scenario where you’d DH for another position (Cather).

In reality, this will never happen. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Skenes rest on Saturday’s after he pitches on Friday, only batting Sundays and midweek.

Skenes should get ZERO at bats this season. I know this will crush a lot of souls on here, and you won't be able to comprehend why, but Skenes shouldn't even touch a bat. Not even batting practice.
