the key is OL vs. DL. if our QB has time to throw the ball/our backs have a seam then we will have success. I don't care who is allegedly "faster." our skill guys are "fast" enough. if your DL sits up shop in our backfield it won't matter how "fast" we are b/c our skill guys won't get the ball or be able to do anything with it once they do.

It can help to a small extent in many ways. Our coaches can use past performance and success against different defensive fronts to help prepare the players this season to face similar schemes.

Perhaps this team hasn't, but WVU has seen plenty of defenses better than what LSU puts on the field this year. That's not a slam on your D, but just a little info to temper your delusional beliefs.

So what possible good would it do to say that a 1985 WVU team played a #1 Defense?

I can't take anymore of this waiting around crap... I'm getting too excited for this matchup.

I've got lots of WVU fans here in Arlington talking shite. These two fan bases are a match made in heaven... I can't wait to go to Morgantown next year.

And now I have to wait until 9 pm tomorrow night??? After a full day of Das Best Oktoberfest at the National Harbor...

]

BTW - Montgomery and Mingo off the edge... two DEs that are faster than most team's linebackers. Watch out for those guys.

This quote surprises about Devine. i would like to see the entire interview and bet the context is different because he has NEVER made an arrogant public comment in his career..

Let me add when Devine entered as a Freshman, the majority of people said he would NEVER make it, get in trouble, or fail..

He has done EVERYTHING right since his arrival including not adding anymore kids to his portfolio:). But, if you arent aware of his background its brutal..

Both parents died of aids. he was a getto rat in Ft Meyers. Was the 1st youtube football sensation. Deon Sanders tried his arse off to adopt him and push him to FSU.

If you know just SOME of his story you really would have a hard time NOT pulling for him, except when he plays you of course...

It doesn't. I've already explained that. Maybe I should have gone a bit slower.

Nope. They have played against some PSU, Miami, Ohio State, and Pitt defenses that were brutal. Better than any I see on the college football landscape this year. In fact, in '96, WE had the nations best defense.

This is absolutely true. Devine was supposed to be toxic, and instead has blossomed into a great college player. guess what? He is the WVU offense and he's faster than anyone on the field. So, in a way, he's right.

I have no problem with Devine having confidence in his abilities. He's a great player who was told by all the experts that he would be a failure. It's hard not to like him.

Ok let me sllllllloowww down since you apparently dont fricking understand..

History doesnt mean shite in this game.

If your OC or HC has maybe coached a team against Chavis before then there is a small chance that he has something from the past he can work with. Otherwise nobody here really gives a rats arse who WVU has played when these players were 6 years old.

While your D is witout a doubt better than any we've seen, WVU's offense is better than anything you've seen. And, we have better defensive numbers than you, although you've played a bit better competition.

This is very true. I would agree that there is a lot of delusion on this board... some of it is just LSU fans talking out of their arse, and the other part is them actually believing it - the latter group are the ones shocked when they realize the game isn't going quite like it was played out in their heads.

At the very least, I am expecting a very competitive ball game - I don't think either team has proven they will dominate the other on either side of the ball.

Looking forward to tomorrow night!

Again, ma'am, I already conceded that point. Try reading again. You're a big girl. I'm sure if you stick to it, comprehension can be your friend too.

Funny how WVU fans think that Devine was just a normal recruit that they landed. Teams were scared of him.

He had a poor academic record 2 kids and suspensions.

From Mandel back in 2007
quote:

There's more. Devine, 18, is the father of two children. Organizers for the aforementioned U.S. Army all-star game initially left him off the roster due to suspensions from school and his poor academic standing. The latter has been the subject of constant speculation in the recruiting world, and in fact Devine's relatively low ranking is due largely to the assumption he won't be able to become eligible to play next season. Most major programs backed off recruiting Devine over concerns either about his academics or his "baggage." While other hot-shot recruits around the country jetted off to visit Florida and Michigan and USC last fall, Devine reportedly visited prep schools Hargrave (Va.) Military Academy, with Sanders, and Milford (N.Y.) Academy. College fans who follow recruiting closely focused their attention on more realistic targets

He would have been a top recruit but nobody thought the kid would qualify.

Those last ones will be calling for the coaches head, if they fail to meet their delusional expectations. We have many of them as well.

That's true. Maryland didn't think Steve Slaton would be any good after a knee injury, and backed off. We had offered, so we kept our promise. SOME teams thought Pat White was a D back.

Ok so everyone to understand..

YOU claim.. WVU has played tough teams in the past.

I and others said that means absolutely nothing this year.

And your answer to that was:

quote:

It was just to temper the rabid belief that your defense is lights out

And you are not full of shite how??

You basically just admitted that your statement in your orig post on the subject came right out of your arse.
