i know coaches can be pretty rigid for no good reason, but seeing as how White was a running back as well, he should be used as a FB in short yardage.
Coming down with the ball was no accident. He was a running back in high school. He is used to having the ball unlike most traditional LBs.

My bet is on that he not only fills Beckwith's shoes but ends up being one of the most elite LB's in Fighting Tiger history.

All the LSU players were pointing to the end zone to signify turnover and White thought they meant to run.
P.S. As for him being down, he was not recruited for his intelligence and knowledge of the rules.
