Don't know if highschool counts as "childhood," but the two LSU things that stand out for me are Rohan Davey coming in after halftime in the 2000 Peach Bowl and this scoring drive in the 2001 Sugar Bowl:
quote:
ILLINOIS 14, LSU 34
======================
--------------- 4 plays, 70 yards, TOP 01:54 ---------------
Steve Fitts kickoff 65 yards to the LS0, Domanick Davis return 33 yards to
the LS33, out-of-bounds (Steve Fitts).
L 1-10 L33 LSU drive start at 10:35 (3rd).
L 1-10 L33 Rohan Davey pass complete to Josh Reed for 13 yards to the LS46, 1ST
DOWN LS (Eugene Wilson).
L 1-10 L46 Rohan Davey pass complete to Josh Reed for 22 yards to the ILL32, 1ST
DOWN LS.
L 1-10 I32 Rohan Davey pass complete to Josh Reed for 32 yards to the ILL0, 1ST
DOWN LS, TOUCHDOWN, clock 09:29.
John Corbello kick attempt good.

I was a junior in high school and went to see LSU vs. a directional school.
I went with two high school teammates. Wickersham was starting and Hilliard and James were both backs, if memory serves me correct.
I remember Hilliard could not walk without his thighs rubbing together. He may have been the first human being I ever witnessed with such an affliction.

Burt Jones to Brad Davis in the Southeast endzone with time running out turned a loosing game into a winning game and that is why there is a sign that says please set your clock back one second because you are now intering Louisiana.
I was at that game and I sat there in that South endzone right under the canopy right behind the goalposts.

Walking out from the concession stand to find our seats. My first game and me, my dad, and younger brother. The place was wild and HUGE. Eating my nachos while quietly looking around at the massive Tiger Stadium just taking it all in. I couldn't believe how many people were there. Then the band took the field and started playing. Later, Kevin Faulk broke records. We scored lots of touchdowns. Something went wrong and Dinardo was PISSED and stomped up and down the sideline then ran out on the field to bitch at an official. The student section set the precident I would later try my best to follow 5 years later. We won 48-0 I believe. Mississippi state went home a loser. I became an LSU fan.

LSU vs FSU Fog rolls in and oranges hit the field. Other memories include Wendell Davis and 50 yd gains made routine on simple crossing routes.

1) Running out of the North Endzone tunnel wearing the white home jursey as a 7th grader to play football before an LSU home game. The stadium was almost half full and the crowd went wild when we ran out the tunnel.
2) The next year hearing the crowd cheer when I scored a TD in the north endzone.
3) Everytime I hear the LSU fans react to those four notes.
Greatest game as a Dad.
Hopefully my kids got hooked when they were able to go on the field during pregame for the UT game. My youngest son could not see so Kevin Mawae put him on his shoulders. Then they got to see the Tigers win in OT and the goal post went down.

Blue Grass Miracle. I got so excited I threw a quarter and broke a window. Speaking of broken windows. In 07 when Doucet scored that touchdown on 4th down my cousin tried to throw a chair through one. It was great.

Nov 19, 1988 Miami Hurricanes bring a hurricane to Death Valley
I was a junior in high school. LSU lost 44-3, but what really stands out was the monsoon that dropped on Tiger Stadium that night. Holy hell did it rain. My uncle and I had seats on the East side, opposite that of my parents and aunt. It seemed once that rain started, it didn't stop. It got harder and harder and harder as the game went on. When it started getting cold, my uncle just poured more whiskey into my coca-cola. Every time he poured it he would say the same thing, "...drink up...that'll keep you warm until the game's over."
Man did it get cold, and we got drenched too. No umbrella or poncho could save you that night. The skies were angry that night my friends, but we never left our seats and stayed until the clock read 00:00. Funny thing is, after the game, we met up with my parents and aunt. They were dry as a desert. Their seats were under neath the over hang of the upper West deck. Because of that night, I've never left an LSU game early. That night on Nov 19, 1988 was a defining night for me. I'm with ya LSU Tigers, through monsoons and blow out defeats. I bleed Purple and Gold.

Relish on my horseburger
Bourbon in my coke (12 yo)
Those canvas-backed seats you rented
Sid Crocker's voice booming: "Doctor #420...please call the medical exchange"
Did I mention bourbon?
Oranges littering the field
Bert Jones to Andy Hamilton
Mike Anderson stuffing the middle
Tommy Casanova putting Johnny Musso into a coma
Is there any bourbon left?

Didn't start following LSU until I started school in 2007. Not really childhood, I know. But ...
- Glenn Dorsey facing the student section after damn near every play and gesturing for us to "bring it." Got me so amped.
- Getting inside the student section two and three hours before kick off to get good seats, cheer for LSU players as they warm up, and taunt opposing players who come near us.
- Seeing/hearing pregame for the first time against Va. Tech and thinking "Holy shite, this is unlike anything I've ever seen, and I think I'm deaf."
- Being 15 feet away when D. Byrd tumbled to the turf of the north end zone with the game-winning catch against Auburn, and subsequently losing my effing mind.
Needless to say, I had a pretty good first season of loving LSU football.

Listening to the game on the radio cause we had no TV. Wickersham’s passes Woodley’s passes...I would CRY when they lost...not much different than now....Also back when I was a kid they were THE BEST team in the country no matter their record. I still think like that now but I am the first one to SCREAM IDIOT at the TV when the CURRENT QB makes a dumb decision which has been too many times as of late...Also I am known to scream run when they line up in a single back set....Crowton Offense at its finest
BTW: I got chills thinking back in the RADIO days.....

first game that I remember attending. LSU vs Ole MIss in Tiger Stadium. MID 1960's.
LSU fans leaning over where the Ole Miss players were running out of the tunnel. FAns had closer access back then. LSU fans spitting on the Ole Miss players.
My first thought at the age of 5. I love this place.

Other defining moment.
Twin brother and myself in utero.
Cannon's punt return against Ole Miss on halloween.
My twin and I both had headaches because of the percussion felt in the amniotic fluid when the crowd went wild.
This is the truth.
