According to a very reliable source inside the TAF....

"Daryl Edwards to transfer to Michigan. He will transfer upon the conclusion of the basketball season and will be eligible to play immediately.

Great get for John Beilein and the Wolverines.

Wish DE nothing but the best.

Good for him. Great landing spot, I’m actually a little surprised he’s at such a big time school like that. Would have figured he would have gone to a lower tier, but that’s awesome.

He doesn’t have a spot on this team next year. Wade did not include him getting another year in his plans. It was not Edwards choice to transfer.

Damn. He wouldn’t be getting many minutes here if healthy. Surprised he’s going to another premier team

I don't know about that considering how much he contributed last season. We could surely use him for some depth behind Mays and Waters.

Sounds like you're hating on him

That’s Javonte Smart’s role off the bench. He was our 9th guy in rotation this year so safe to say his minutes wouldn’t be great. The guy wasn’t hating on him, he was giving out a solid opinion.

go checkout the minutes Mays is playing right now. Edwards would be playing 7-10 minutes per game.

Honest criticism of the strengths and weaknesses of players is not "hating" on anyone. Edwards would be the 9th man on this team right now, if healthy. His injury actually coincided with our win streak.

We are a better team without him getting a lot of minutes.

That said, I'll be shocked if he goes to Michigan. Foolish move for him, IMO. He could really excel at a mid-major.

ok, but I'd argue that we'd be a better team with him in the rotation.

This team is one injury away from having depth problems. I remember when Smart kicked Days on the sideline earlier in conference play (was that the aTm game?). Anyway, when he limped to the bench, I was very concerned.

You think 7 minutes would be a lot right now? It’s about what I would expect from a 9th man in the rotation. Just a role player who gets some time, but not someone who is riding the bench.

When you consider Mays's minutes, yes. I think 7-10 minutes more rest per game would do a lot for his game.

He was definitely ending up the 9th guy in the rotation this year. He would be nice to have but we've just been bringing in more talent (like Smart).

The fact Wade probably told him it was best to move on tells it all, he could come back numbers wise, but clearly either:

A. He didn't like his position being #9 guy in rotation this year
B. Wade told him we dont really have a spot for you next year

Keep in mind, we still have 4 spots to fill, so if it was B, Wade was basically saying we think we can recruit someone better.

I appreciate Edwards and what he did here, but it was clear to see he was more a transitional player for us and not one Wade expected to keep around for 3 years. If a team stuck pretty close to him he was pretty much taken out of the game because he couldn't get a shot off.

I don't doubt his moves going forward into next year. I'm saying that Edwards could be helping this team right now and would be if he never got injured.

Well if this is true then we are now big time. You know you're good when you can process a solid player like Edwards.

I always like edwards, Wade has said that he has gotten tons of calls about Edwards and can't say enough good things about him.

He would have helped this team out if he was fully healthy, some games he would have played more than others but he could have helped with the streaky 3 point shooting.

Hope the best for the guy.
