Ok.,.who else was a tad shocked at Grant getting out-physicaled, and flat out run over?

What adjustments can he make to show the world he is still to be feared?

1 missed tackles opportunity is eyebrow-raising for a stud 1st team All-american, but when it is 2-4 (think 3) in a single game, even against a tough and physical top-10 team, it's closer to shocking than eyebrow-raising.

The good news is that Duvernay type of beasts are not common to "run into"...on other rosters...

What should we expect?

I think the game humbled him a little bit. I expect him, as well as the rest of the defense, to rebound and play with chips on their shoulders. They feel like they have something to prove again, and that's a scary thought for our opponents.

All the defensive backs need to wrap up religiously. Some LB’s also. It was apparent and it hurt us.

So...the overwhelming response seems to be that this was only eye-raising? Not shocking?

Down voting is fine, but weak.

It's a valid question.

It was a huge surprise to most.

Use those flappy thing us mortals call arms to wrap up the ball carrier when tackling. That's all I got.

His tackling technique is he dives and wraps around the knees and does an alligator roll. 90% of the time it works flawlessly. Only problem is if his arms slide off the runner initially then he’s already left his feet and is done.

Like I said he’s almost always solid with this technique so Texas was just a mediocre game for him and not the norm.

TigerBert...
I was also calling out Delpit, Saturday night, early and often as I was shocked at the tackles he missed. Maybe we’re expecting Honey Bear type stuff from him this year and he was awful good last year. But, relative to the pre-season lists and hype for Grant, he grossly underperformed Saturday night.

There were some missed tackles all around. So Im not worried. He made a couple of awesome plays and the 1 tackle he missed on the pass in the flats, he had him dead to rights and hung on to him for 2 seconds, but nobody was rallying to the ball to finish it. It was like they assumed he made the tackle and nobody was within 10 yds when the runner got away.

The D was gassed but I hope the coaches get them to rally to the ball better.

I saw some Harry Coleman speed bump tackles and it scares the shite out of me if we keeps seeing that going forward.

That tackle alone that stopped Texas short of a first down, caused them to punt early in the game by far made up for any negative play he had

He’s still a 1st round pick. Players have great games and above average games.
