Defensive backfield should get some help

And that help will be from Maason Smith, Mekhi Wingo and Harold Perkins. Interceptions, overthrows and underthrows start, more often than not, with pressure on the quarterback.
Most quarterbacks will tell you that the pressure they hate the most is inside pressure. They cant step up in the pocket, which Drew Brees was the master at. They cant step into their throws with their center and guards pushed back into them. They can go further back, but it makes them more susceptible to the outside rush and throws off the rhythm of the routes.
We know Wingo is a disruptor. With Maason Smith, we just have to hope the preseason hype is real. But it’s not just hype from the LSU side. Incredibly with all the talent on the d-line in the SEC, Smith is on most all SEC preseason teams having hardly played a down. Wow, somebody must know something.
Double teaming Mingo or Smith might not be the answer if they move Perkins around and keep him inside. That is three very disruptive players coming at the qb on the very shortest route to get there.
I hope some of the transfers at cornerback from LSU turn out to be DBU caliber. It’s kind of odd for defensive back to be the question mark on an LSU defense.
But nothing makes a defensive backfield better than a pass rush. And there is nothing quarterbacks hate more than inside pressure. That will be one thing to look at against FSU. Florida State has a very good qb in Jordan Travis, although humility might not be his strong suit. He is already comparing himself to Jalen Hurts. Lol. Our db’s could get a nice Boost if Smith Wingo and Perkins can get after Travis early and often.

Smith needs to show me he can do it on the field and stay healthy. I’m hoping he’s who we think he is. But…………

Definitely true, I remember Auburn giving Burrow trouble with their two outstanding DT's putting pressure up the middle on him

I get your point, but go watch Jordan Jefferson’s highlights from West Virginia. I can’t think of anyone I’ve ever seen bat down more passes at the line

Mason Smith owes you nothing.
He is a player.
He was injured.
And may be the best football player on this team.

Also all that scrambling Travis did in week one ain’t gonna happen with Perkins roaming the field. He dominated against every mobile QB we played since he was inserted into the lineup.

You may not be wrong, but you neglected to include some players that will help the DB’s just as much, ie Savion Jones, Omar Speights, and Ovie.

Was about to post this very thing. Add Swinson and Womack to the list. Hopefully, we get pressure from the DE spot. The talent is there.

Tell me you know nothing about football without saying you know nothing about football.

This place can be such a wasps nests of assholes who must sit by their computers all day waiting to crap on the most innocuous of posts. Lol. I dont really get it though. Does is somehow make people feel good about themselves running down other people?
So Im sorry about whatever it is that must make you so miserable as to feel the need to be the first to run down a fellow tiger fan. Bravo back at you, ya dick.
