Defense, especially secondary, looked concerning today

I was able to watch a good bit of the scrimmage, and although I was pleased with the QB and receiver play, the manner in which Aranda's defense gave up nearly 700 yards in the air gave me pause.

A lot of busted coverages and open deep passes. I think once the players get adjusted to the scheme some of that will be cleaned up, plus some of our top DBs didn't play much or at all.

This is great news. I hope our offense gets 700 yards in the air every scrimmage.

So why are you concerned Harris and etling did well vs. 2nd and 3rd team dbs?

frick we are playing the vaunted soft zone that is an LSU stable recently. Bet our D-Line also got zero pen too.

man, if the QB and receivers looked good what else matters?

I guess you would have preferred our defense dominating and once again we couldn't complete a pass.

it's a scrimmage; the team works on things. the qb's could use some confidence getting started. imo, I think the defense coaches should have been a bit lax no matter what. just learn the scheme and work on tackling.

The good news is in a real game we won't be playing defense for both teams...

You are aware that the first team offense scrimmaged the second team d right? I just glad our qbs had a great day. Even if it was against the 2ND team.

Sound like you answered you're own concern, seems like you need a little bit more to keep u busy this spring, maybe get out clean up your yard or something

Exactly. It wasn't exactly the aggressive, ballhawk/playmaking style of defense that everyone has raved about Aranda for

Better now than in November. And a scrimmage is nothing like a real game.

On second thought, 700 yards against the 2nd string defense with the staff clearly having them taking it easy so the offense can get some confidence doesn't impress me either. I think it's a bad approach

Is this the first time you have ever participated in watching a scrimmage or spring college ball in general?
