Defense - # plays per game 2018 > 2019

teams have been scoring very quick on us this year

Consistency and Big plays are the problem with this defense.

Those 2 extra plays are killing us

Then where the hell are the leaders of this team, on the field and coaches?

Who knows? But its obvious the defense lacks urgency because, frankly, they don't think their needed as much to win

I'd have no issue with big plays if they were a result of an aggressive approach. Unfortunately many of the big plays we give are due to poor play within an unaggressive approach.

Maybe DA needs to get on their arse because he just has the same expression all the time

This is the truth. Look at how good our defense plays in the first half in big games (except Florida but they dominated TOP and wore us out). Texas had 7 points, and yes they probably should have had a touchdown on one of those 4th and goals, but still our defense plays really good whenever their backs are against the wall.

It’s tough to score points on us in the first half because we make other teams have to execute a almost perfect drive to be able to score on us. Our DL also does a really good job at plugging up the holes and doing a great job of blowing up the LOS on 3rd and 4th and shorts. Also our offense is so electric that opposing teams are heavily pressured to have to score touchdowns instead of field goals to be able to catch up with us and it’s hard to get touchdowns on us in the first half. Texas has 7 and Bama had 13 and Bama had several 3 and outs. 2 of the most electric offenses in all of CFB.

We knew that once we didn’t have to really rely on our defense anymore, it would be the day that we would dominate CFB. That’s whats happening right now and everyone just needs to calm down about the defense and Aranda. Our defense is still very good and Aranda is a top 3 DC in all of college football. The times have changed and it’s time to look at reality and understand that it is going to become harder to stop these fast paced offenses, but we are still one of the best at doing so because we win football games in the first half most of the time

Agreed, plus Devin White was a sideline time sideline run stopper.
