I don't understand the obsession with Matt Campbell.

He's 36-29 overall as a head coach. Had some 9 win seasons at Toledo.

He's been at Iowa State for 5 full seasons and his best record was 9-3. He started off this season getting drubbed against Iowa last week.

He's proven nothing in terms of recruiting or winning on the big stage, which are two conditions Woodward will absolutely require of a new coach.

Now do Iowa States record the 5 years before he got there

ETA: Since y’all are lazy, it was 23-39. Turning a program from a loser to a consistent winner is the mark of a great coach

lol...I like how THAT is the reason. As if at least 85% of the guys on that list aren't total assholes - especially the one at the top of it.

Lsu will hire a hot name coordinator. They've burned too much money from buyouts going back to Les Miles. It's going to cost them plenty to run off Orgeron and others. My sleeper is Kellen Moore, OC with the Cowboys, but you want to hear Bob Stoops say no first

Nick Saban’s record at Michigan State was 34-24-1. Should LSU not have hired him? Personally, I would be very happen with a Matt Campbell hire.

Nah, the SEC is clearly the peak of the sport and elite coaches want to prove their worth at the highest level. Plus LSU will give him any and all resources he'd want or need.

Fickell...WILL take a bigger job as well...in play

Another good option. USC and LSU will be the two biggest jobs, my guess is he will be approached for both.

How he does at Ole Miss this season will go a long way in showing what he is capable of. If he wins 10+ games, he will be approached.

No one else on that list will be available or is worth discussing.

Also got smoked by UL-Laf in his opener last year, and routinely turns in a clunker vs. Northern Iowa (16-10 W this year, 3OT win 2019, 2016 loss)

USC has already fired their coach, speculation from some is LSU will can O.

That brings up the question of, did USC can Helton after 1 game because..
1. they feel O will be fired at or before the end of the season and they want to get a jump on bringing in a big name hire?
2. hire now and not have to go thru the "we want Ed O" from their fanbase?
3. Both?
4. Other?

Iowa State is historically bad and he got them to 9 wins and the Fiesta Bowl last year. What he has done there is amazing.

We just threw a mountain of cash on a women's basketball coach, yet you think we go conservative on the biggest money maker in our athletic department?

After seeing how he handled himself and his team this weekend, my dream hire is Cristobal, or Riley. Sark is a ballsy playcaller we all know, but the ink isn't dry in Austin. Napier is a snooz hire, although probably worthy. If we throw the farm at someone it better be a big splash. If we suddenly find ourselves pinching pennies, go for Coastal Carolina's Jamey Chadwell.

Lsu doesn't have Texas, aTm, or Alabama money. Those schools have many many big donors. More than LSU. Not going pay top dollar for a coach when the stadium isn't selling out, with a bandwagon fan base. I've been going to LSU games for nearly forty years, and when they play bad, the fans stay home, and don't buy tickets. Wood better swing for the fences, because OU and UT are joining the conference, and will be dipping into the recruiting base in Louisiana. Hire a damn leader, not some glorified position coach.

Yes I do. Saban was a safe hire in some terms.
