Isn't that the point of this thread?

And yes the buyout $$ wouldn't fully come from the university, but the effects of not firing him and paying the buyout would be more detrimental to the athletic department and university.

I don't buy into the narrative that if you fire O after one season, that no coach would come here...unless Alleva is still here. If you fire the AD and the coach, the new candidates would realize that their is a new AD and he is going to make a hire to establish himself early on.

thats why the important thing now is to cut Alleva.

Os not going anywhere this season. It's not like switching pitchers in a baseball game. They'll give him at least one full season.

Need to worry about canning Alleva before we can anybody else. Coach O can have another year to try to get his shite together and plus a lower buyout but Alleva needs to go now that way we can get another AD settled in and he can start looking for options WHEN/if O fails again next season.

It's largely perception.

LSU doesn't want to endure the ridicule that would come with paying two coaches not to coach and having to shell out top dollar for a third. It's not about whether or not they can afford it.

Yep. Assuming you netted Bob Stoops or Chip, not a single media soul would say anything

The only issue I would think could possibly happen is what coach in his right mind would come here after the previous coach got canned after one season?

The right coach would be too smart to come into a situation where we have this AD and the baggage from the half-assed way he handled the Les Miles situation, followed up by firing a coach after one year.

As for the "myth", it's a FACT that you will be paying 2 coaches to not coach, PLUS the huge contract that it would take to lure in a solid new coach, PLUS the fact that you're also paying Jones to not coach basketball.

Ride with O and hope for the best. Fire Alleva.

It's not just O's buyout. It's also Miles' and if lsu hires a new coach who wants his own coords it's the 2 highest paid coords in the country's buyouts too. More like 15M to get ride of this clown show.
