I get it, you're a homer, we all love the Tigers, and Chris Blair is awesome play by play guy, BUT Doug, you have to stop ruining the biggest calls of the season.

We understand it's not an easy job. We understand he was thrown into it with no experience. Last year, it was only bearable because you understood he was in a no-win situation and learning the job on the fly.
This year he's got no excuse. I just don't think it's something he will ever be good at. Great guy. Good insight. Bad color analyst.

Normally these guys get better and more comfortable...somehow Doug has gotten worse.

He is a good guy, and has an in depth knowledge of the game, but he just walks all over the audio....

Back 100 years ago when I was on the media, fans were not allowed in the press box. It was total silence during LSU's biggest moments. It was called professionalism, but I did hate the code.

He's yelling it over Chris for one thing. Radio is just different where all you get is what you hear and when you're trying to imagine the situation and the play on the field, it's tough to stay engaged when Doug won't shut up about his twitter or Chris' driving gloves or he's yelling like a fan (which he is) over Chris' calls of big plays.

But it won't change. If LSU gave a shite, then they would find someone besides Doug to do play-by-play for games when Blair is unavailable early in the season. If you think his color is bad, try to decipher his play-by-play.

I know he reads this site, as does Matt Mascona, so maybe next time Doug is on his show Mascona can bring back his "Shut up color guy" segment?

Actually that should be Chris Blair's job. He is the boss. He was hired because he supposedly knows what a professional broadcast should sound like. He at some point should have told Doug that what he is doing is not professional and detracts from the quality of the broadcast. So some of this blame goes to Blair.
I used to hate when Hokie (RIP) would grunt and groan in the middle of Jim Henderson's calls....but at least Hokie for the most part got out of the way for the truly big calls.

Last year, I tweeted at Chris Blair that his job description is Play By Play, not Every Other Play by Play. It is annoying to have to follow game using the crowd reaction.
Blair - 'Duplantis at plate, with a 21 game on base streak(clap from crowd) to face the righty reliever(groan from crowd), with the count 1-1.'

I agree he is great with his knowledge and insights into the game and team. He just needs to learn that often less is more. He will be great if he can ever learn timing.

I'm glad someone else is annoyed by this. While the play is going on his little chirps of "get thru" or "get out of here" or "yess" are annoying as hell. Just let Blair talk

To be fair, I think Blair got him started on that too. I don't think "DT9" was on board with it until Blair urged him to start it. Blair seems to be big into social media. I don't know if it's his personal preference or if LSU urged him to do it. Can you imagine what Hawthorne would have been like with a twitter???

I just don't think he cares
Edit: Hawthorne was the best baseball announcer by a mile, he did have his times where he moaned and groaned but he was very detail oriented.
