The whole truck thing is a huge mystery. According to their account, the Marine was the one who allegedly walked up to "save" the victims who he didn't know.
Since then, the police have reported that all four new each other (so there is contradiction #1). Now, there are numerous sources saying there is video of Captain America getting tossed out of the bar prior to the fight (there is contradiction #2). These sources all say that the Marine actually punched Brad Wing to start the whole thing (Contradiction #3.)
As I said in another thread, people should take the original accounts and these new accounts with a grain of salt. However, as someone who does this for a living, I have a feeling that the Marine is going to come out looking really, really, really bad by the time this is all said and done.

Regardless of who it is, if anyone was specifically at fault for starting the fight or the degree of apparent injuries, I hope they get what they deserve. I've known too many Marines and varsity athletes who both looked for fights and went overboard on beating someone to have any preconceived ideas about it.
Although I would put the latter in a less suspect category than the former.

Further, if you're fighting more than one person (especially if they are reasonably tough), the most important thing is evening the odds by incapacitating the enemy as quickly as possible, which usually requires a force of violence that one should rarely exercise in a bar fight as opposed to combat.
So, even if said young Marine is trained to do so by gouging out an eye, smashing a trachea, breaking an arm, or shattering a kneecap, he would be well-advised NOT to do so unless the situation warranted it.
Does that make sense?
