I know nothing about most of these hires. However, I have never been more excited to watch our coaches work and make names for themselves. Just looking at what made CBK hire them makes me ready to see how we develop at each position.

It seems we went after guys who are very detailed, innovative, and technical at their positions.

The DB coaches IMO have the most to prove especially the one that was at OU.

You find this guy special from a tweet he sent out ?? Damn I sure thought I'm special. I did not send out a tweet but I did drink some warm chocolate milk cocoa in this nice cold weather and oh did i mention I cost alot less than Steeples to be employed. Yah I thinks I fit the special thread

I said he can be. Everything read about him was positive. I know you're trying to be funny, yet i didn't laugh once at this. Try a different career Mr. comedian Carry on elsewhere.

Kerry cooks has never put anyone into the nfl doesn’t have a great recruiting record and steeples doesn’t have a record of recruiting at all and only having one year of being in the nfl that isn’t much of a great resume for any one but b Kelly is bet big time on them

This is true if looked at objectively.

I'm not excited (nor do I hate it- sort of neutral, for now) about Cooks.

Steeples I have high hopes and the only excitement is opening up some untapped, for us, recruiting grounds.

But I'm also remembering that taking the measure of a man is more important than reading his resume (see Bo Pelini). I'm counting on that A) CBK did indeed take the measure of Cooks and Steeples as men and B) He found that translates to a good coach.

Because the man defines the coach, not the other way around.

I'm hopeful and expectant. We shall see. Also I, personally, am assuming the best and that tAlignment (aka process) takes care of any shortfalls on said resumes.

Exactly

2007–2008
LSU (Asst S&C)

2009–2010
Utah State (CB)

2011
Nebraska (DB)

2 years as Utah CB coach and 1 year as Nebraska’s DB coach. Doesn’t exactly scream DBU maker

ETA- Kelly has a long history of great assistant hires, so I’ll trust him in this. Everyone seems to succeed as DB coach at LSU. That should say something

He definitely seems to have a rocket ship on his back with his career trajectory. Either he is just one hell of an interviewer or he is the defensive version of Joe Brady.

New transfer Mehki Wingo was on AFR with Scona today and spoke HIGHLY of him. Of course only time will tell, but we will see.

And with Woodys ability to write really big checks he should get anyone he wants.

Better question, where was our pass defense ranked the last two years?

Excited for the much-needed change

What are your issues with Woody? It sure seems like you don't think that he is doing job very well.

I met him last week, we talked for about 30 min. He Seemed and spoke highly intelligently. Also talked a lot about the relationship he makes with players, and how to guide them personally and as a student athlete. Seemed to have a real good big brother/father mentality to these kids. We didn’t talk X’s and O’s, but he checked every other box you could think of. I am a fan, now we will just wait and see!

I can say, most mizzou fans i know are disappointed we didnt hire him as our DB coach. The powerhouse he built in STL HS football and ties he still has there. Yall should have pretty good access and chances to the top talent out of STL because of him. Yall got Wingo cause of him. He coached Wingo in HS.

Raymond didn’t build DBU. That was established well before Miles hired him. He just maintained it.I would not worry about disrespect for Raymond. Patrick Peterson probably did more to attract D-backs to LSU followed by the badger, than Raymond did in recruiting.
