Thomas, Watford , and Smart will have their usual games, but Days is the player LSU needs to step up the most. When he plays with confidence LSU is hard to beat. And he’ll let you know early on what is mindset is.

If Days comes out and hits a couple big threes, creates a turnover or gets a couple hard fought rebounds in the 1st few minutes then expect him to have a big game and for LSU to possibly win. If Days comes out and misses a couple shots or gets a cheap foul or turnover in the 1st few minutes you might as well sit him the rest of the game.

I have never seen a player get so down on himself like he does if things don’t go his way right away. Let’s hope he builds his confidence right off the bat and we get the 15 points and 9 rebounds Days and not the 4 points and 4 fouls Days against Texas Tech.

Watford not being predictable and passing the ball is the key.
Same with Thomas. Make smart shot selections and we have a chance.

I don't know. I don't quite see the part about Days getting down on himself. I have always just seen him as a streaky shooter. He's either on or he's not, but he is almost always good for a bunch of rebounds, and particularly offensive rebounds, leading to putbacks.

The wildcard is whether he's going to shoot well, and obviously we're better if he is. But if Days just stays out of foul trouble and does all of the other things, that would work just fine if Thomas would shoot better, and if the team could limit the silly turnovers.

I'm not even going to get into it about the defense. I just assume it will be bad, and hope to be pleasantly surprised.

He needs to stay out of foul trouble to stretch the floor for sure

Smart and Thomas have to be effective and efficient

I really worry how well we’re going to handle their defense

Who is going to stop that Santos-Silva guy who crushed us at VCU? That’s the key.

Days has always been a huge key to our success. When he’s out there grinding and busting his arse.. it’s contagious and we play really well behind him

LSU is undefeated when Days scores in double figures this year according to Hunt Palmer.

He didn’t hit a 3 in the games against Florida, Bama, and Kentucky. He averaged 3 points and 4 rebounds and basically went through the motions the whole game. With even an Ok game from Days against UF and UK we win those games.

Days problem is the other players won’t pass to him when he is open. There is many a time he is calling for the ball and no one will pass to him. Our passing game is so slow that we rarely can swing it around to someone who is wide open. Lack of a passing point guard is his issue.

He barely played against Florida because of foul trouble. That skews the averages of the games you mentioned.

We might like to see him shoot lights out, but we know by now that he's streaky. He does a lot of other things well. You're basing your opinion on three games. A lot of guys didn't show up in those games. Watford and Thomas are counted on to score more than Days, and they are incredibly inconsistent in their play, all across the board. Not just shooting.

I know the Texas Tech game just happened and was after you and I started this conversation, but I'm going to use it as an example. Days had 11 points and 9 rebounds before getting hurt. That's kind of a typical game for him. LSU wins this game if Watford doesn't play terribly. And Thomas, even though he managed to get his points again, was 6-20 from the field.

Yes Days has bad games sometimes. But you can usually count on him to do other things when he's not scoring. The guys that need to step up are Watford and Thomas.
