I really wanted to see White at RB. His size and speed is ridiculous so I wanted to see him with the ball.
But putting him at LB makes the most sense for him and the team. The backfield is crowded while we need the depth and talent at LB. Should be a fun player to watch regardless of position.

LBers in the NFL enjoy longer careers.

IMO that gives us two 5 star talent EE linebackers.
Yeah - I'm getting more excited, too. I think Riley will do well in Aranda's scheme (he certainly thinks so) - and with Divinity and White as the young talent already on campus.
But, I also think that Andre Anthony and Rashan Thornton are going to transition well to OLB, too. Thornton has a big frame, but I never thought he was headed for 275 or whatever. Under 250, he's a quick, aggressive guy who might be a better fit as an OLB in a 3-4 than a WDE in a 4-3, anyway.
That's even more true of Anthony, although he did play a lot of end with his hand on the ground in HS - that's another, smart aggressive player with a quick first step. It's almost like we knew we were headed in this direction before we even hired Aranda.

No simplistic answers. Love the long hand.

ditto on Riley. someone is bound to have a break out party under Aranda, and my bets on the Duke

The Aranda hire will go down as one of the greatest moves Miles ever made while at LSU.

The defense is going to be so freaking nasty next year. White and Beckwith with the guys on the line will finally bring back that run defense that is much needed when you play in the SEC West. Also, going back to man coverage will get our guys to do what they do best.
I was thinking top 10, but this defense could be a top 5 defense next year. With Fournette and Guice, Harris just needs to moderately progress for LSU to be THE team to beat.

Yes I love both Anthony and Thornton as OLBs/rush DEs. Both will be in the 230-240 range with speed once 2017 rolls around.

The last time I was this excited about a coaching hire. It was 2009 and Les had just brought Chavis in.

I just never felt good about the Steele hire when he would talk about his defensive philosophy. He usually said I'm not going to change anything and things are good so well just carry on. He sounded weak and like he had no philosophy or plan on defenses other than to just use any play book that was laying around.
Excited that Aranda sounds like he has a plan and a belief of how he wants to run a defense.
