re: Danny McCray is not a matchup problem per Miles

What was he supposed to say?
"Well, McCray is fricking terrible in coverage, but to be honest with you there's not that many people behind him that play just as well. So we say 'frick it', just put him in there"
the question wasn't even about Mccray being a matchup problem. It was something about the safeties blowing assignments and Miles brought it way around to point out how with a teensy little correction Danny Mccray is going to be locking slot WRs up.
He obviously hasn't realized the problem for 2 years so i dont have this automatic assumption that this is just Miles pumping up his player like the rest of the rant.

I wasn't being a dick. I think he's the weakest of the DB's. I was just adding what Miles probably should have said.

Yea. Like miles is gonna come out and say, "McCray is garbage. He can't cover anybody."

All players and athletes make bad plays and have off days and no team has every postion manned by players that shut down the opposition, little league, high school, college or pro, its the nature of sports. Every team has a weak link and good coaches find them. Let's hope McRay gets better as the year goes on, other players also have to help out. It is a team sport, quit bitching about one player, it does more harm then good.

So freakin what!!! I am sick and tired of hearing people who take up for McCray say this...that is all you have to back him up!!! How the hell else are these "kids behind him" gonna learn how to play that spot? McCray definitely isn't showing them. You can coach these kids to get them confident enough to take his spot...but, you CAN'T coach ATHLETICISM (in McCray's case)!!!

I gave up hope on McCray midway through last season.

Good coaches don't throw 18-19 year old players under the bus (but Saban does, hello Ronnie Prude)to the media. Miles is a good coach. Trust me, he has forgotten more about football than the combined knowledge of the rant will ever know.

Seriously, if everyone watching LSU can tell that McCray has some serious matchup problems, why don't the coaches?
Is that kind of like how everyone could tell that Chevis wasn't cutting it as a return man and then finally, after a Chevis muff cost us big against Florida, a change was made?
Or is that kind of like how everyone could tell that the Crappunt wasn't cutting it, then Florida blocked a punt and a change has yet to be made?

I heard Meyer drove 44 miles to buy 44 lottery tickets yesterday. For some reason it is the number he can't get out of his head

Well if the "problem" gets LSU another National Championship this year, then its not really a "problem".

Is this McCray kid any good?
Posted on 10/6/08 at 4:31 pm to gators312414
he's a good player but he's a safety who gets lined up as a nickelback covering slot WRs man to man. He's been getting picked on in coverage for 2 years and Miles and co. have yet to make any adjustment.

Sounds like Meyer.
If we could actually make adjustments when we needed to, we'd still be undefeated.

McCray had a damn shot in his league and was taking medicine he was so hurt in the Auburn game and Chad Jones doesn't know the damn coverages enough to even understand the plays going on. So McCray was literally forced in the game even though he said he couldn't go because he calls the packages for nickel and dime and Chad Jones simply can't. So McCray is forced to go in and what happens, touchdown.

Major Wright got burned badly for an 86 yard touchdown against Ole Miss. He is good, but he is no Reggie Nelson.
