Was Tommy Hodson ever the best quarterback in the SEC for a year?

His sophomore year was pretty damn good.

Yes he was the best QB in the SEC for multiple years and held every major passing record in the SEC. You never saw him play so you’re ignorant on the subject.

For individual seasons or over a career?

I can look up his stats.

He was first team all sec for 4 years
He was the 3rd QB in NCAA history with 4 straight years of 2,000 yards passing.
First SEC QB to pass 8,000 yards
First SEC QB to pass 9,000 yards
First SEC QB with 60+ TDs
Won the SEC as a Freshman
Finished top 5 nationally as a Sophomore
Won the SEC as a Junior

You shouldn’t be using statistics as a comparative argument because you don’t understand statistics and you don’t even post correct stats.

So career stats. Irrelevant to the discussion.

Nobody is asking who accumulated the best 4 years of stats while LSU QB. By that standard, Hodson is better than Burrow (by a wide margin). Is that what you're arguing?

Team stats. Again, irrelevant to the discussion.

Again, JR was the best QB in CFB for a year. Was Hodson ever CLOSE to that?

Burrow was also the best QB in CFB for a year. He didn't accumulate 4 years of stats like Hodson, so I guess it doesn't matter, right?

And JR played before the spread and advanced passing took over so his offense/era was more comparable to Hodson's than to JD's. Just FWIW.

I’ll only talk about the ones I saw play.

Burrow, Russel, Flynn, Mauck, Mett and Davey.

The only two that are clearly ahead of him are Burrow and Russell. Neck and Neck with Rohan with a chance to clearly pass him.

You going to make your argument for Colt Brennan?

There’s no argument to be made. It never happened.

Yes he was and that’s relative to competition comparison btw. What you’re doing is moving the goalpost as it suits you. You say stats but then you ignore stats. You say achievements but you create your own standard and ignore all other universal standards. And again you make incorrect and inaccurate statements.

No one that watched football at that time ever thought JR was the best QB on the field

Only 2 QBs had better QB ratings:

Colt Brennan (HAW)
John Beck (BYU)

Only 4 had a higher ypa (Same as above but adding Brian Brohm and Kevin Kolb). None were in BCS conferences.

Only 1 BCS QB had a higher completion rate (Colt Brennan)

So, you're either going to argue for a non-BCS QB or agree with me.

I'm ignoring accumulated career stats because they're not relevant.

There are all sorts of stats in the world. When you are in a discussion/argument, only relevant stats matter.

Team stats don't matter.

Career accumulations don't matter.

NFL production doesn't matter.

I thought he was. He was awesome in 2006 but “Vastly better than Hodson” like this idiot claims is just beyond stupid. It’s ignorance, it’s goalpost moving and it’s double standards when you’re dealing with SFP.
