That's absolutely right. Nor can Denbrock claim to have developed a top-tier QB either. Ridder might be his best product. Outside of his early Cincinnati offense days, Kelly's offenses haven't been prolific either. The combination of those two historical trends (unimpressive QB play and mediocre offenses) had me suspect we'd develop into a high-powered offense again.

How can you be certain given the little we have seen of him? I would like to hear your reasoning.

It tells us he had at least two out of the 4 incompletes were perfect passes but dropped by the receiver and he was playing with a lead and the coaches were only asking him to burn the clock and get just enough yards in the passing game to stay on the field and keep the clock moving. His first throw was errant; that's the only negative takeaway from those stats.

Totally agree . JD looked horrid out there . He had a 4 yard pass to a running back wide open … he had to gun it so the kid couldn’t catch it ! WTH ?! No rush either . Hope he is studying , because he isn’t going to the next level !

There are some miserable dudes in this thread. LSU had 37 scholarship players when BK arrived here. He patchworked a team together using the portal. We are 4-1 and with future recruiting classes being coached up by this staff- the future is bright. Lower your expectations for this season and just enjoy the ride.

How many yards and completions did Daniels have the second half?

I'll save you looking it up. 0

I don't care what kind of sunshine pump JD supporters provide, that's a horrific, indefensible stat for a QB on a team w/ this kind of talent.

And 210 yards passing vs Miss St. If you’re going to cherry pick one game and build your whole argument on that it’s not being intellectually honest. Plus all the yards with his legs he’s given us. This is a rebuilding year. Let’s let BK….rebuild.

Get Nuss in the game . Keep him on a short leash . No crazy throws . I think he can move the ball instead of 3 and outs .

You people wanna try something new for the sake of trying something. But there’s absolutely nothing you’ve seen from Nuss indicating he’s a better option right now than Daniels. If you say you have then I have to start questioning your agenda. .

From my standpoint, LSUs offense will never achieve its potential with JD under center. Nuss looked bad in his short stint agst Southern. Granted. He looked like he was trying way too hard too quickly. Agst New Mexico, he looked fantastic. Stats: 9/10 for 135yds in two quarters of play leading (3) scoring drives; more than JD with 2nd & 3rd string players.

JD is a fairly effective game manager who can be elusive when needed. Nuss has much better, pure all-around QB skills which isn't surprising considering his pedigree. His big con is he can be a bit risky with throws. I think that can be managed a lot easier than trying to turn JD into something he's incapable of being; a prolific passer.

t's VERY telling that he's starting for his 4th straight season (albeit his 1st year at LSU) and he was outplayed by Auburn's 3rd string QB starting his 2nd game in college.

That is more telling of how bad our starter is. The coaches have him starting and us fans have no choice but to deal with it. However, JD hasn't shown any improvement from the FSU game.

That's excellent context to JDs performance.

57 came on one play. He had 3 completions with 2 minutes left in the 1st half. This notion ghat he threw the ball well against Miss st is laughable.

91st in passing yards per attempt

110th in passing yards per completion.

70th in average team passer rating

JD is not a good passing qb. If he is hobbled in any way he is our worst offensive player.

For this team to come out of Auburn in their first hustle environment is a huge plus. I believe that Daniels gives us the best chance to win as well but he has to start connecting on some down field throws. UT is not going to let us beat them with the run and QB scrambles. If he can’t start making the throws then Nuss needs to play.

Let's bring up the whole stat line for all his games and where this passing offense ranks in the FBS then. I'm perfectly fine putting his body of work in the right context. It's not very good. Thankfully he has provided some good stats w/ his legs or this offense would be downright pathetic. I refuse to accept the "rebuild year" argument. We have way too much talent, experience across the offense to excuse this play as "rebuild": QB-4yr starter, RBs-all experienced, WRs-deep and talented, OLine-inexperienced but all get excelent PFF grading. Just because some faces are new does not automatically fit a "rebuild" mantra.

Well, it would be difficult to have a worse one, but I suppose being better than at Auburnt is possible. It will need to be enormously better to beat Tenn. Why would you think that JD5 will suddenly develop the ability to be an average passer? Just curious.

Nonsense. WDE was bull rushing right through OL to the QB all night. LSU needs a simple one read or scramble. Half field reads would work also or maybe levels progressions short to long.

Great post, and really tells the story. If our OC and BK are not aware of this and realize that something has to change, then our coaches are no better than les miles and cam cameron.....and that is as bad as it gets imo.
If something isn't changed significantly this week, LSU is about to go on at least a 5 game losing streak and it is going to get really ugly in BR.
Losing is one thing, but paying a coach 10 million dollars to phone it in, doesn't go well with Tiger fans.....and we are very close to that reality.
Change something but make it significant because the same crap is going to reveal the chit hitting the fan like BK has never seen before.

It's not a rebuilding year ? I'm not sure the word means what you think it means.
