20+ yards: 4/10 40% adjusted rate 40%. Gets an 82.0 grade from pff.

10-19 yards: 12/25 48% adjusted 64%
Gets a 72.5

0-10 yards: 59/78 75.6% adjusted 83.3%. Gets a 60.8

Behind LOS: 14/15 93.3% adjusted 93.3%. Gets a 65.3

Short left is his worst throw, followed by intermediate left by pff grades.
Deep left is his worst pass at 2/6 completion. Deep right 1/3… so literally 33%.

Stats don’t lie. Discuss.

He's not very good at throwing the ball. Thank you for stating the obvious.

I would say that he is actually very good at throwing it. It is recognizing where to go with the ball and the anticipation on where/when to throw are his weaknesses.

There are ways to manage this. This coaching staff has made incredible progress with other areas. Hopefully they can manage some success here.

Hand select all his throws? I know you’re in the defending JD at all cost business but you do a bad job of it.

I thought they were on to something in the New Mexico game when we went heavy on early downs and forced more man coverage with run and threat of run. We gained 15 yards on that jet sweep, JD averages about 7-8 on designed runs. We need to include everyone in the run game and make it the backbone of the offense with JD throwing when we get them in 1on1s. Dropping him back like a pocket passer is producing bad results.

You obviously don’t know what “hand selected” means.

Can you filter out games against Southern and New Mexico? Would give a much better picture.

All of his throws by definition cannot be selected throws.

"very good at throwing"

Yeah, that's hyperbole at it's finest. He's not very good at throwing. His accuracy is way too inconsistent to be very good at throwing. He can throw a pretty ball sometimes but his accuracy is unreliable on top of him not being able to throw a timing route if his life depended on it. He doesn't throw them because he doesn't know when to throw it. So he gets conservative and holds the ball instead of hitting them when they clear defenders or out of breaks. This is also why they make a lot of options where his first read is a TE on a checkdown because he needs guys wide open to hit them to feel confident. If he throws late they will be INTs. He's simply not an SEC QB when it comes to throwing and it's not going to get magically fixed this season.

I can't even recall him hitting any pass over 20-30 yards this entire season. I'm talking hitting someone in stride on a deep ball down the field not someone taking a short pass and turning it into a 40 yarder. They barely try to hurl it deep because his deep ball accuracy is so bad it's 10 yards over WR heads.
